On Hold
About Molly 🥇 4yo kelpie (on hold)
Looking for an affectionate and clever and best friend? Meet Molly, a 4-year-old purebred kelpie (with pedigree papers) with a heart as big as her personality! This lovely lady is the perfect mix of brains, fun, and cuddles — and she’s ready to find her forever family.
🐶 About Molly
Molly loves all people, including children. She doesn’t jump up but will climb into your lap if you let her and loves to give kisses. She's affectionate, snuggly, and wants to be part of your world.
She’s an angel in the house — no accidents, no destruction, and she respects boundaries like a pro. She doesn’t dig, doesn’t try to escape, and does not bark at all when left home alone. In fact, she sleeps most of the day and has shown no signs of separation anxiety or bad habits.
When you’re home, she becomes more vocal — taking her job seriously as your protector, and wanting to let you know what’s going on in the neighbourhood. But don’t worry — she calms down beautifully and is very receptive to training with consistency and guidance.
She sleeps soundly through the night (sometimes up to 10 hours) and loves cosying up in her foster carer’s room in her own bed. Invite her on the bed for cuddles and she’ll gladly oblige, then hop off on cue like a polite little queen.
She loves her toys, especially the noisy ones, and has started to fetch them for you. She enjoys a splash in shallow water too.
🥇 Personality & Training
Molly is incredibly smart and quick to learn. She’s working on her basic obedience and lead manners — she can pull at the start of a walk, especially in busy areas, but calms quickly in quieter surroundings.
She’s nervous and reactive around cars and road noise, so a peaceful, rural setting is ideal for her comfort and confidence.
She’s enjoys her meals, puzzle toys, Kongs, and bones. She likes to be left alone to eat and may guard high-value items, sometimes running off with them. However, with hand-feeding treats and respecting her space, she’s becoming more relaxed and trusting every day.
She likes being brushed and didn’t seem to mind being washed either — another bonding opportunity she appreciates. She is medium sized dog, weighing 21kgs.
🏠 Lifestyle & Needs
Molly needs daily enrichment and exercise. She thrives in off-leash dog parks or bush/nature walks. Life on or visits to, acreage or a property would be ideal, but she’s not a working dog. She needs plenty of human interaction. She’s not a “put her in the backyard and forget her” type of dog.
She needs access to indoors and outdoors during the day, such as a doggie door, and to sleep inside at night — Molly is part of the family.
🐾 Other Dogs
Molly is great with other dogs and thrives in their company, especially those who like to play! She doesn’t engage in rough-and-tumble play, she just likes being with them and going for walks together.
She would be very happy to live with another dog or two, but equally, could be a solo dog, bonding deeply with her people.
🚗 Travel Buddy
Molly can be a bit nervous in the car and not yet fully comfortable with traveling. She hops in and out more easily these days. Once she’s out and about, she’s getting more confident, and is learning that car trips mean fun destinations. With reassurance, and routine, this will continue to improve.
🏠 Ideal Home
• An active, dog-savvy family or individual who understands working breeds and can offer routine, love, and outings. Someone with patience to help her keep growing in confidence.
• Quiet suburbs and rural areas are best. She wouldn't suit noisy, busy, city life.
• Where she has indoor access during the day and sleeps safely inside at night.
• No young children under about 12years old.
• She can live with other dogs or be an only dog.
⭐️ Molly is in foster care in East Maitland, NSW (west of Newcastle). He is available for adoption to NSW and ACT. Her adoption fee is $800 and she is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
