About Emily
We're looking to rehome my grandmother's much-loved 10-year-old rescue greyhound, Emily. She was adopted from a local shelter in 2019 and has been a treasured companion ever since.
Emily's a calm, gentle dog who would be perfect for an elderly couple or a young family. While she enjoys her daily walk, she’s just as happy snoozing in a sunny spot. A decent-sized backyard would be ideal for her occasional zoomies, but overall she’s very low-maintenance.
Emily recently had surgery to remove a cancerous lump. The vet is confident it’s unlikely to return, and we have all her vet records. She’s microchipped, registered, desexed, and up to date with all vaccinations.
We’ve come to a really difficult decision as a family. Our living situation has changed — my grandmother has developed serious health issues, and most of our time and energy has shifted toward being her full-time carers. It’s meant a huge change in our daily routine, and unfortunately, we just can’t give her greyhound the attention, stability, and quiet environment she really needs, especially as she’s getting older. This hasn’t been a quick or easy decision — she’s incredibly loved — but we genuinely believe she deserves a home where she can spend her senior years feeling calm, supported, and truly prioritised.
We’ve spoken to friends and family, but unfortunately, no one is in a position to take her on — either due to pets of their own or not having the right setup for a greyhound. As things get more demanding at home, we’re hoping to find her a new home soon so we can fully focus on supporting our family through this transition, knowing she’s in safe and loving hands.
