🐾 MEET DUNKIN & BEAN – YOUR NEW BEST FRIENDS! 🐾
Dunkin and Bean are a bonded pair of happy, playful boys - a Jack
Russell Terrier and a dachshund JR cross - who thrive on companionship -
both with each other and with humans! They've grown up together, and
their close bond means they keep each other company when home alone,
making them easygoing, low-stress pets for busy homes.
These two are incredibly social and get along well with other dogs of
all sizes and temperaments. Whether it's playful rough-and-tumble with
like-minded pups, gentle interactions with elderly dogs, or quiet
respect around cats, Dunkin and Bean adapt with ease. They've lived
alongside German Shepherds, a Golden Retriever, and even a couple of
cats - with no issues.
💬 Dog-Friendly?
Absolutely! They love to play, sniff, and hang out with other dogs.
They've also hosted and visited other dogs overnight without a hitch.
🏡 At Home:
These boys love the indoors/outdoors lifestyle, and love playing in the
backyard by day, and snuggling up on the couch with their humans by
night. They currently sleep together in a cozy, blanket-lined crate -
they're crate-trained, go to bed without a fuss, and love being tucked
in. Both are house-trained and adore having a doggy door to come and go.
🚗 Car Travel:
Both are calm and relaxed in the car, especially Dunkin, who enjoys a
good lie-down on long drives.
🛁 Grooming & Handling:
These two love the attention of bath time, brushing, and cuddles.
They're calm, affectionate, and used to being handled closely - even by
children.
👶 Great with Kids:
They live with two young children and are just as happy to run around
outside as they are to curl up for a cuddle or join a trampoline bounce
session!
🦴 Food & Chewing:
No food aggression here! They share well, including toys and space. The
only thing to keep in mind - like many dogs, they love to chew soft
toys, so tough chewers are a better match for playtime.
🔐 Fence Requirements:
They can jump and sometimes can dig! So a secure yard with high fences
at least 1.5m high (and no flimsy chicken wire) is a must.
🎾 Energy Level:
They strike a nice balance between playful and chill. You'll often find
them playing in the yard together or snoozing in the sun.
🐕 On Lead & Obedience:
Impressively, they sit and wait once their food has gone down on the
floor, and don’t eat until given the command.
They've had basic training (Dunkin even graduated Puppy School!) and
while they're generally friendly and sociable on lead, they can be a bit
excitable and pull -some lead manners training wouldn't hurt. Off-lead
recall is still a work in progress, especially for Dunkin, who's a
little more independent.
❤️ Overall Personality:
These two are gentle, non-aggressive, and deeply affectionate. They'll
thrive in a home with a secure yard, a loving human or two to dote on
them, and ideally, a family who'll enjoy both their cuddly and playful
sides.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.
