About Indiana - 15 Month Old Golden Retriever
đŸ Indiana â Your Golden Shadow đŸ
** Please read the full profile before applying **
Indiana is a bright, affectionate 15-month-old Golden Retriever with a zest for life and a heart that bonds deeply to her special person.
Whether sheâs proudly carrying her favourite soft toy, gently offering a paw for a game of tug, or galloping with joy at the park, Indiana shows all the classic Golden spirit - loyal, playful, and clever.
Since arriving in foster care, Indiana has quickly learned polite mealtime manners, âsit,â âshake,â and âcomeâ (most of the time!). Sheâs a smart girl who is eager to please, and with continued training she will thrive. Out and about, sheâs friendly with other dogs and enjoys meeting new canine friends. When running and play rumbling with friends she has a grin from ear to ear.
Indiana thrives on companionship and reassurance. Because of her early experiences and sudden changes, she can feel anxious about being left at home along. She will need patient, understanding adopters who can spend plenty of time with her, especially in the first weeks as she settles in and builds trust. A consistent routine and lots of gentle encouragement will help her confidence grow. Adopters will need to be prepared and accommodate for this adjustment period â it could take weeks or even months.
To set Indiana up for success, she is best suited to a home where she is the only dog. She has shown some jealousy over her personâs affection when another dog is close, so her ideal environment is one where she can relax knowing she doesnât have to compete.
Her ideal home will have:
- Someone home most of the time, especially in the first weeks and months. Indiana is not suited to full-time workers unless arrangements are in place so she is rarely left alone.
- No other dogs. She can be jealous of sharing her personâs affection.
- No young children. A calm, adult household â single, couple or possibly a family with dog-savvy teenagers will help her feel settled.
- A commitment to ongoing positive training and gentle routines.
- A secure yard for play and exploring.
- Daily exercise and outingsâpark time with doggy friends is her absolute favourite.
Be realistic - Indiana may not start as a perfectly behaved companion. Right now, she is a young dog still learning how to feel secure and understand whatâs expected of her. In her first days and weeks with a new family, she will likely be unsettled, anxious about being left alone, and need plenty of gentle guidance and reassurance.
She may even have accidents, bark when feeling unsure, or test boundaries as she adjusts. But with patience, consistent routines, and understanding, Indiana has every potential to become the loving, loyal friend she truly wants to be. If you are prepared for some hard work in the beginning - and committed to helping her learn to trust -she will reward you with affection, devotion, and the joy of watching her grow into her best self.
If youâre looking for a loving Golden Retriever who wants nothing more than to be your devoted shadow, and youâre committed to investing love and time, Indiana could be the perfect match.
