About Mateo
Mateo – A Gentle Soul Ready for His Forever Home.|
This handsome little gentleman is as sweet as he is gentle. With a kind spirit and a heart full of love to give, Mateo has no mean bones in his body—just a quiet, affectionate nature waiting to blossom.
He came to us from a shelter where, sadly, his extreme timidity had placed him on the euthanasia list. Thanks to the kindness of rescuers, he was pulled in time and has since been thriving in foster care. Mateo appears to have lived as a colony cat with little human contact before being rescued, which explains why he is wonderfully confident and playful with other cats, but initially shy and reserved with people.
In his foster home, it took him some time to settle and gain confidence, but once he did, his true personality began to shine. He now enjoys curling up on the couch for gentle pats and cuddles with his foster mum. While he’s not an overly demanding “lap cat,” he loves sitting close by and receiving scratches once he feels safe. He is also quite food-motivated—his sweet little meow often makes an appearance at dinner time or when treats are involved!
Mateo is very cat-social and absolutely thrives in the company of other cats. Having a feline friend has been a huge confidence booster for him. He previously lived with an older female who doted on him, and he is currently enjoying the companionship of a male cat his own age. Because of this, we are ideally looking for a home that already has a cat-friendly cat who can help welcome him and show him the ropes.
Due to his background, Mateo will need a quiet, calm home with a patient and understanding adopter who has the time and love to help him adjust. He may be quite shy during the first few weeks as he learns to trust his new environment, but with consistency and kindness, he will gradually come out of his shell and show you the loving, gentle boy he truly is.
Being a gentle soul, he is also a good fit for a home with calm and gentle young kids. He has actually taken a liking to the young daughter in his foster home and started sleeping on her bed, which is very sweet.
If you’re a calm, cat-savvy person with a resident feline companion and plenty of patience to spare, Mateo would make a wonderful addition to your family. This sweet, big-hearted boy is ready to give and receive all the love in the world—he just needs the right person (and cat) to help him shine.
Mateo is approximately 14 months old and has been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated and is available for adoption right meow.

About Us
Urban Feline Australia is a small, independent cat rescue dedicated to saving surrendered cats from kill shelters and finding them loving, permanent homes.
Founded and run by a passionate animal lover with the support of dedicated friends and volunteers, we specialise in caring for cats that have previously lived in family homes but, for various reasons, can no longer stay with their owners.
Since our inception, we have been fortunate to build a small but dedicated network of volunteer foster carers. These compassionate individuals welcome the surrendered cats into their homes, providing them with love, care, and a safe environment while we search for their perfect forever families.
As a tiny, grassroots rescue with no government funding or large facilities, every rescue is powered by compassion, community support, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare.
All adoption fees and donations go directly toward the essential needs of the cats in our care — including premium food, veterinary treatment, litter, equipment, and ongoing medical support. We rely heavily on the generosity of our foster carers, volunteers, and supporters to continue our work.
Our long-term vision is to expand so we can help even more cats in need. This includes securing a larger dedicated property and, one day, possibly opening a cat café to raise awareness and funds while creating a welcoming space for cat lovers.
How You Can Help
