About Blake
Meet BLAKE, a gentle but confident blue Kelpie who's won the hearts of everyone he's met since arriving in care.
Our vet estimates that Blake was born in December 2022. He has the easy temperament of a well-balanced young adult kelpie - calm, affectionate and people-focused. Weighing 19 kgs, Blake has massive potential to be a loving and loyal life-long companion.
His coat may look a rather distinguished blue-grey in the photos but it's actually a stunning silver. He is very handsome, indeed. Blake is definitely a dog that will attract admirers.
On a recent visit to the home of one our volunteers, we saw Blake's maturity in action. He was "mobbed" by the resident dogs - all five of them - but he took it all in his stride. He stood his ground, but allowed the "sniff fest" that ensued without any aggression whatsoever.
Inside the home, he met the resident cat who was snoozing on the couch. He walked over in a gentle manner, sniffed the cat and then walked away in a cool, calm manner.
Although Blake loves other dogs and can romp and play with the best of them, he loves people more. Our volunteer describes him as "very smoochy, quick to make friends and very quick to ask for a cuddle".
Although he's untested with kids, his gentle and tolerant temperament suggests he'd be a good companion for older children with good dog manners.
Blake loves the car and travels well. Open the door and he'll jump right in.
He is house-trained.
Blake's perfect home is one where he gets plenty of physical and mental stimulation and is regarded as an integral member of a loving family. A typical Kelpie, the more love he gets, the more he will give. He'll be the perfect companion, never far from your side.
So if you’re ready to open up your heart and home to a loving bundle of Kelpie joy, consider making Blake part of your family.
As always, secure fencing is essential. Prior Kelpie experience will be highly regarded and if you already have a Kelpie or other working breed dog, all the better.
