About Ruby
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Ruby
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance from the pound with her pup Buddy
BREED: Jack Russell Terrier x
BREED TRAITS: Jack Russells are lively, independent and clever. They are trainable but have a mind of their own and if bored can dig and chew. Terriers are devoted to their people, affectionate and love being with them so cannot be left for long periods. . Careful and sensitive socialisation from a young age is a must as they are small dogs with big personalities.
************************************************************************
ASSETS: Affectionate, devoted, eager to please, friendly, sweet and playful! Ruby hasn’t had the best start in life but she’s a gorgeous girl with a ton of love to give. She was very unsure and shy when she first came into care but her confidence is growing.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Ruby loves to play with any sort of toys and enjoys playing fetch. She also loves to cuddle up with her person for a snooze.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She’s a complete snuggle monster and is very smart. She’s very eager to please and just needs someone to show her how to go about it.
OTHER ANIMALS: Ruby gets on well with other dogs so could be rehomed with another young, friendly dog who wants to interact and play with her. She hasn’t been tested around cats since being in foster care.
GENERAL INFO: Ruby needs some lead training as she jumps up when walking at present and may bark at unknown dogs when out and about – in her original home she was just a yard dog so didn’t have experience of walking on lead. Ruby would benefit greatly from training to help fill in the gaps of her puppyhood - she is very smart. Routine, consistency and gentle exposure to the world around her will assist with Ruby’s growth. She is housetrained and will bark at strange noises. She would flourish with reward based learning generally and around the home, as she is sensitive to reprimand. Being a young and active dog who is really still a pup, she needs good daily exercise and interactivity or she will chew and dig in the garden when bored.
ESSENTIALS for Ruby:
** a loving home where someone is there for most of the day or can take her with them when out as she loves company
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night
** an owner who is committed to giving Ruby the input and training that she has missed in her short young life
** a well fenced garden where she can run, play, sniff and explore in safety
Ruby has not been tested with children but we feel that she could settle well with dog savvy children over 8 years of age who will be able to read her signals and give her space when she needs to chill. Ruby could possibly also live with another young dog that has the same energy level, as Ruby is very playful.
If Ruby sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
