On Hold
About Casper - 11 Month Old Staffy X
If you are after a bright, happy, affectionate, sweet-natured new best friend then Casper is the pup for you. If you are hoping for a ferocious guard dog then he is not the right choice because he will peacefully sleep through any commotion going on including barking dogs, neighbours’ kids and thunder storms.
Casper is totally deaf. But in every other way he is a normal, well-adjusted delightful puppy.
Casper is a healthy pup who has been raised in a home environment. He has been well socialised with other puppies and adult dogs and gets on with them all. He has met lots of people and is friendly and affectionate. He can be timid in new situations,
but he soon adapts with a little reassurance. He loves romping with his brother then is happy to sit quietly at your feet or have a nap. He sleeps through the night and will wait until the morning to go to the toilet. Casper is not a high energy dog, but it is important that he has daily exercise to keep him fit and happy.
Casper is a stunning looking boy with one bright blue eye. He will grow into a medium sized dog. We always recommend puppy training classes to give your new family member the best start in life. Dog trainers can give you great advice on how best to raise a deaf puppy. All dogs and puppies need plenty of affection, exercise
and training. Casper will be easy to train, even though he is deaf, because he is so bright and eager to please. Whilst he cannot hear instructions, he will watch you intently for hand movements and signals to know what you want him to do. He is also very food motivated which always makes training easier.
As a special needs puppy, Casper will bond very closely to either another human or another dog because he relies on others for hearing. Being a Staffy, he loves people and would make the perfect companion for someone who is home most of the time and wants a little shadow who will follow you around, go for walks, or happily cuddle up on the lounge. If you have a friendly, nurturing (non-dominant) adult dog that would love some company, then Casper would form a close bond. He also needs his people home more often than not.
Casper needs to be welcome inside and sleep inside. He would be a wonderful family dog and is suitable for children 10 years and older. You need good fencing with no small gaps. He can’t go to rural fencing (e.g. mesh or wire).
Casper has a lovely nature and will make an amazing companion. If you have any concerns over raising a deaf pup then please email any questions. With a little special training a deaf dog will lead a full and wonderful life the same as any other dog.
Casper is in foster care in Mayfield, NSW. His adoption fee is $700. He has been desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and is microchipped.
