About Whiskey
Meet Whiskey, a sweet and soulful little gent with a heart full of love and a few little quirks that only make him more endearing.
At 2 years and 3 months old and weighing just 3.3kgs, Whiskey may be a small Chihuahua, but his heart is big and full of love, with his expressive eyes and calm nature, Whiskey has a quiet charm that sneaks up on you and steals your heart before you know it.
Whiskey is a gentle boy who’s taken everything in his stride. When he first came into care, Whiskey was a little unsure and nervous but has since blossomed at his foster carer's home.
Whiskey came into care thru a private surrender with a terrible ear infection. Whiskey was unsure with people when he first arrived and unsure of why his foster mum was touching his ears and putting 'stuff' in them. Whiskey has learnt that this helped his ears, and he then was happy to have them sorted.
Whiskey is a gentle boy who can be prone to the occasional ear infection, though this doesn't stop him from being his lovable self. Even when needing to treat his ears, Whiskey handles it with ease and has never once shown a mean streak. He’s the kind of dog who wins everyone over with his quiet resilience and genuinely affectionate nature.
Whiskey is almost there with his toilet training, though he can still leave his mark occasionally. Especially when new smells or routines stir his instincts, it's a work in progress, and we hope his future family will understand this and continue to work with Whiskey, as he really does deserve all the love and support from his future fur siblings and family.
Whiskey hasn’t tried a doggy door, and crate training isn’t on his résumé yet, but I’m sure with his quick wit, he'd learn to use a doggy door in no time.
Whiskey is happiest curled up in his plush doughnut bed in the bedroom, nestled in for the night. During the day, you’ll usually find him lounging in his favorite dog bed or playfully batting around a toy when the mood strikes.
Whiskey’s bursts of playfulness are as unexpected as they are adorable. One moment he’s curled up like a sleepy burrito, and the next he’s zooming about with his favorite toy or bouncing around with his foster siblings.
Whiskey really enjoys the company of other dogs, especially those his size or smaller, and generally gets along well with dogs of all shapes and sizes. However, if another dog gets too jumpy around his face, he’s quick to let them know he prefers a bit more personal space in those moments.
Whiskey loves people and warms up quickly once he knows he can trust you and your safe. While he may be unsure about being picked up, once he’s in your arms, he melts into the snuggles like he was made for it. He’s especially fond of cuddles, tasty treats, and soft, encouraging words.
Whiskey would best suit kids over the age of 10 years old who understand how to move slowly and gently with and around him, respecting his space and boundaries.
Whiskey is a sensitive little guy, and although he hasn’t been tested with cats, he’s shown no interest in the resident budgies at all and would likely be fine with small animals that don’t flutter or bolt.
He enjoys short walks and trots along nicely on a lead, although he can be a bit nervous in new environments. He may bark if another dog kicks things off or if someone enters the house unexpectedly, but he’s not one to bark just for the sake of it.
Whiskey prefers peaceful environments where he can feel safe and relaxed, though he’s not opposed to a bit of excitement now and again, on his terms, of course!
At his core, Whiskey is a sweet, slightly quirky, totally lovable little gent who wants nothing more than a warm spot to rest, a human to adore, a fur sibling to play with and few toys to toss around for good measure.
If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion with a playful spark and a heart of gold, Whiskey might just be the perfect match for you.

Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email.
