Meet Icarus,
A bouncy, tail-wagging bundle of love with a big personality and an even bigger heart! This friendly little guy is as outgoing as they come, always ready to dive head first into adventure with wide-eyed curiosity and a playful spring in his step. He’s super social, full of energy, and loves making new doggy pals. Whether he's chasing toys, making new friends, or just soaking up attention, Icarus is full of enthusiasm for life.
You might notice his hackles raise when meeting new people or exploring new places – but don’t worry, it’s just his body reacting to all the excitement and unfamiliarity, not a reflection of how he feels. Icarus remains his sweet, happy self through it all. Like all puppies, he’ll need training, guidance, and a loving home to help shape him into the best boy he can be – and with his bright spirit and eagerness to learn, he’s more than ready to thrive!
Dog-friendly? Yes! Icarus is open to meeting other dogs - ongoing socialisation training will be a great addition to his social skills as he is still learning the art of socialisation, manners and interaction.
Cat-friendly? Unknown - we can't really test in this environment, so it’s up to his new family to introduce him carefully.
Kid-friendly? Absolutely! He’s open to meeting children of all ages!
Considerations:
Icarus would love a yard, with high secure fencing, so that he can play in it safely. He dreams of a home with toys - lots of toys! As well as daily exercise/walks to keep his body physically fit & his mind mentally fit. Treat/food puzzles are a great tool and great way to keep active puppy minds engaged!
Icarus is starting to explore his surrounds & is growing in confidence each & every day. However, it would be a wise move to invest in a crate & start crate training. This type of training is not only a highly valuable skill to have but is a great skill for any dog to learn and know.
Icarus should be enrolled into puppy training classes as soon as he is adopted. These classes & training will set him up for life and will allow him to learn social skills & etiquette, as well as define his manners. These classes & training will also teach him how to appropriately interact with other dogs as well as other animals & people. These training classes will also assist his new owner, as they can both learn new skills together.
If you've got other animals at home, that's okay, just make sure that they have a gradual & supervised introduction - preferably over a few days - to ensure that they have the best chance of becoming friends for life.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
