Meet Marlin,
Marlin is a big, lovable teddy bear with a heart as large as his paws! This handsome boy is full of personality - he’s outgoing, playful, and always ready to be part of the action. Whether your household is buzzing with energy or you’re always off on an adventure, Marlin is your guy. He thrives in lively environments and would love nothing more than to be included in your daily hustle.
With his happy-go-lucky attitude, confidence, and curiosity, Marlin is the kind of dog who turns every moment into something fun. He’s super affectionate and will always choose to be near you... or right on top of you if you let him!
Marlin would do best with experienced dog owners, especially those familiar with the Rottweiler breed. He’s an intelligent and engaging boy who’ll thrive with the right guidance and structure. If you're an active person or family who’s ready to welcome a big softie into your world, come meet Marlin - you won’t be able to resist his charm!
Ideal Home: Marlin is suitable to live in a standalone house or farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard and high, secure fencing.
Family: Marlin is open to meet kids from 10 years and up - this is simply due to his size and play style.
He is fine to spend time in the yard on his own but on occasion would enjoy time spent inside with his new family as he absolutely loves being near you. He can be a bit of a velcro dog - he loves nothing more than having a part of him touch a part of you. Marlin is fine to live with people who work part-time as he is independant and easy-going. We'd just recommend something to keep his mind active if left homes for long periods of time.
Furry Friends: Marlin is best to be the only dog in the home for home. During his dog to dog assessment he was showing very mixed signals. We get the feeling that he is wanting to interact but his size and mannerisms can be a lot for other dogs to take on. We'd recommend further training and socialisation before allowing Marlin to venture out and make friends.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Marlin would go living with/meeting cats & pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Marlin would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience as well as group classes, or professional training, to gauge his sociability with other dogs.
Marlin is still learning his name, but he knows commands such as: sit, shake and down. He is food motivated too, and is very gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Marlin has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 30-60mins a day to keep him satisfied, content & happy. Russell shows interest in playing with toys - he likes playing with tennis balls.
Marlin walks well on lead but he is strong. He is best to be walked on a martingale.
Staff Comments: Marlin loves being near you. He always has to have a part of him touching you and he actively goes out of his way to make sure his person is right by his side. He's not over-protective in any way, he's just a cuddly, big teddy bear who finds comfort in cuddles, butt scratches and anything that sees that the attention is on him.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
