About Rudolph
💕🐾Rudolph 💕🐾
General Temperament
Rudolph is friendly with everyone and loves meeting new people (both humans and fur babies alike). He is unbelievably affectionate and loving. He has been left alone a few days a week while we work and has had no accidents inside and has caused no damage to anything. Although he does prefer the company of other people when possible. He’s quite an energetic pup and loves to play with his toys. He’s very food driven and loves a good treat.
🐶 Around Other Dogs
Rudolph is very good with other dogs and has had no negative interactions to date. When walking on a lead, he does very well and is now learning to do his business when on a walk as well. When other dogs walk past, he rarely barks and is happy to sniff them and keep walking. He does well at sharing his toys, but can be rather protective over his food. He isn’t aggressive but will guard his food so no one else can get it. I recommend he is fed separately to others. I also believe he would benefit from a home either as an only dog, or one where there’s other dogs with the same playful energy he possesses.
🚶 Training & Handling
When brought to us, he had no experience being walked or trained in any way. Since then, he is now comfortably walking with a harness and lead two times a day (morning and night). He sometimes pulls to keep going faster, but he doesn’t aggressively pull and is happy to match your pace. He knows no commands yet, but is aware of his name and will come when called. We are currently working on getting him to sit and will update when this is achieved. He is not crate trained as our pets do not sleep in crates, however he is mainly house trained and for the most part has learned to pee/poo outside with the exception of a few small accidents. We are confident that with continued efforts, he will be 100% house trained in no time. He is getting better in the car and has only thrown up once, so I recommend making sure he’s travelling on an empty stomach. He is highly food motivated and tends to snatch treats when excited, which we are working towards fixing.
🐾 Habits & Behaviours
Rudolph loves company but when left alone, he does settle down and sleep. He chews his toys and sometimes blankets but not furniture. He has never dug in our backyard or attempted to jump over the fence, even when left alone. He is very playful with his toys. He also sleeps through the night, however he does love a human friend to sleep with. He does not bark very often, only occasionally when excited. He has showed no signs of separation anxiety or guarding towards certain people. However, he is very protective over his food as he was likely starved as a pup. This can be worked on with patience, plentiful food and training.
