About Jasper
Meet Jasper – A Beautiful Soul Ready for His Forever Home
Jasper is the kind of dog who captures hearts the moment you meet him. With his gorgeous looks and even more beautiful nature, he’s a truly special boy looking for a family to call his own.
Currently in foster care with another dog and two teenage boys, Jasper is comfortable in a lively home with people coming and going — though he can become over-excited with too much stimulation. He’s learning to manage his energy and emotions, and with gentle guidance, he’s making great progress every day. He absolutely adores people and is always up for a cuddle, making him a wonderfully affectionate companion.
A Calmer Boy in the Bush
Since arriving in care, it’s become clear that Jasper thrives in more natural, low-stimulation environments. Busy suburban settings — with traffic, noise, and lots of passing people and dogs — can overwhelm him and make lead walking more difficult. On the other hand, in bushland or rural areas, Jasper is noticeably calmer, more focused, and able to relax. We now believe he would do best on a property or in a quiet semi-rural home where he has space to explore and unwind at his own pace. Jasper has now started going to Doggy Day Care and Farm Stays and is LOVING interacting with all the dogs: https://www.facebook.com/reel/689953980815997
Daily Routine & Home Life
Jasper is overall house-trained, though he can be a bit lazy at night — his foster carer helps him out with a quick trip outside if needed, especially in cold weather. He isn’t crate trained and currently sleeps on his bed beside his foster carer’s bed, though he’ll happily sleep in whatever room his bed is placed in.
At home, Jasper settles well — especially when left alone without the other dog. He doesn’t bark or scratch at doors, and shows he can be calm and self-regulating in the right setting. During the day, he enjoys taking himself out to lie in the sun and isn’t overly needy — he’s happy to do his own thing. His foster carer ensures both he and the resident dog, Skyla, spend a few hours outside each day, even if someone is home.
Like many young dogs, Jasper will pick up and chew things if they’re left within reach, especially when he’s bored. Regular stimulation and a bit of supervision go a long way in keeping him on the right track.
Training & Exercise Needs
Jasper is still learning the ropes when it comes to calm greetings and walking on a lead. He’s a quick, eager learner who responds beautifully to consistent, positive reinforcement. In quieter areas, he walks much better and is learning to stay focused. He can become overstimulated in busy environments, which may lead to excited barking or lunging, so he needs calm, structured outings to help him continue building confidence.
One thing Jasper absolutely needs is daily physical and mental stimulation. He’s a high-energy boy who thrives on regular exercise, enrichment activities, and play. This isn’t optional for him — it’s essential to his wellbeing and helps him stay balanced and happy.
Jasper will flourish in a home that offers:
A peaceful bush or rural setting, ideally on a property with space to explore
Another friendly, playful dog for companionship, or
A person or family who’s home most of the day
Daily exercise and mental stimulation (think bush walks, games, puzzles)
Continued gentle training in a calm environment
Patience, understanding, and lots of love 💛
Jasper is a beautiful soul with so much to give. With the right guidance and the right setting, he’ll grow into a truly incredible companion. If you’re ready to welcome a loving, energetic, and loyal boy into your life — and can offer him the peace and space he craves — Jasper just might be the perfect match.
