About Mackenzie
Meet Mackenzie—the agile explorer with a sensitive heart! This small mixed breed girl is a bundle of curiosity and energy, always ready for a new adventure. While Mackenzie prefers the company of other dogs over people at first, she warms up quickly and is soon offering gentle kisses to those she trusts. Her journey so far has been one of huge progress, and she’s eager to find a family who can help her continue to grow in confidence.
Mackenzie is food motivated, which makes training a positive experience for her. She’s already crate trained and is making steady progress with her toilet training. Mackenzie travels well in the car and loves to explore, showing off her agile moves and playful spirit. She’s happiest in a home with another confident, well-adjusted dog to help her feel secure and prevent her from regressing into old fears so we will only be looking for a home with a suitable canine companion. Her owners will need to have the ability to continue her socialisation with other dogs in the form of play dates and social walks rather than dog parks or other situations she’s just not ready for yet.
Mackenzie came into care alongside her siblings, and after a recent outbreak of parvo at the pound they came from the 7 of them went straight into 2 weeks isolation. While no parvo eventuated unfortunately for these puppies it was an uphill battle for health until now and they are now fit to find their forever homes. The whole litter had ups and downs health wise and as a result, Mackenzie had cloudy eyes and needed ophthalmologist care for a couple of months. Her vision is back to normal, but she does have some calcifications in her eyes permanently. Full details of her health journey will be provided to any interested party, but her vet team have said she is ready to find her forever home.
Due to these puppies having a few health issues to start, they are a little behind in exposure and socialisation. They have been living all together with 3 resident dogs and amazing foster carers who have been doing as much as they can given the circumstances. Her development is more like a 10 week old puppy rather than a 4 month old puppy , so prospective owners will need to be happy to start from basics. Mackenzie has experienced periods of vision impairment, and she can sometimes bark at distant or unfamiliar objects when she’s unsure. With reassurance and gentle guidance, she settles quickly and is learning to trust her environment more each day.
She would do best in a home with a patient family and a friendly dog to show her the ropes. She’s not suited to very young children, but older, dog-savvy kids will enjoy her playful side. She will need dedicated owners who can continue her development and provide her with a stable home environment. She will need people home most of the time while she’s a puppy and be allowed inside as part of the family. If you’re looking for a loyal, adventurous companion who will reward your patience with endless affection and fun, Mackenzie is ready to join your pack!

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
