About Rusty
Rusty!
Don't be fooled by little man Rusty's age! He is a very sprightly 9-year-old & his favourite pastime is long walks! He just has to get a glimpse of his harness & he is dancing around, desperate to hit the streets, or the bush or the beach - wherever this days' adventure lies.
Other than his penchant for exercise & exploring, Rusty loves to be a lap dog & will happily curl up for naps & chats.
Rusty has lived with a cat in the past & thoroughly enjoyed interacting with it! Rusty may well be able to live with another dog pending a successful Meet & Greet. A little dog would probably be his preferred choice but he's open to offers!
We know how popular little dogs like Rusty can be, but he does have some non-negotiable requirements for a successful adoption:
*Very secure fencing!*
Our Rusty has known to be a bit of an escape artist in his previous life & was able to climb wire fences. This can be due to boredom & a lack of exercise.
*Regular grooming & coat maintenance*
Rusty arrived covered in lots of large matts in his fur. It was hard to tell who he was under all the mess. He has clearly struggled with being groomed in the past & did not enjoy it at all. We have now had Rusty fully stripped so that he can start afresh. He will need daily attention to his coat which will involve desensitising him to the process by taking it gently, slowly & with short sessions. As his coat grows back, it is vital that grooming becomes a positive experience for him.
*Daily exercise*
If you don't get Rusty out for that daily walk, he'll probably find a way to take himself for one!
*Indoor living*
Rusty is toilet trained, keeps his space clean & makes a lovely housemate!
Rusty may well have many good years left in him & he still has all those places that he wants to explore! If you're looking for a new hiking buddy, grab your boots because Rusty is right here waiting for you!
