About Arlo
Introducing Arlo!
Arlo is a Rottweiler born 3rd August 2024.
Arlo was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray. Through our usual investigations to try to find his owners, we discovered that some of the information we were given wasn't 100% truthful and no one came to claim him.
When Arlo came to us he was incredibly timid & shut down. If you even looked at him, he would cower into the corner of his kennel and would flinch if you went to touch him. While Arlo has made incredible progress, he still has a long way to go on his journey to trusting humans. This means he will need a loving, patient owner who is willing to support & encourage him during this process.
Since being at the facility Arlo has started to let his sweet, puppy side show. He loves toys (especially when he can de-fluff the stuffed toys) and he'll do almost anything for a treat. When sitting near him, he will slowly move closer to you for a gentle scratch & he'll give you his paw to hold. If you have your hand resting on the ground, he will put his paw on top of your hand which seems to give him comfort. We have also found that he's a bit of a thief when it comes to bins.. you may find items in his bed that you've thrown out, especially if you've got a bin without a lid on it. We found these items don't even need to be edible as he stole an empty receipt roll, a wet wipe & a discarded piece of paper while in the office with us.
Arlo is an incredibly sweet boy who has clearly had a rough upbringing. We know that once he's settled into a home with a loving family he will be the most loyal & gorgeous companion, inside & out.
Arlo didn't show any real interest with other dogs at the facility, however we know that Arlo has previously lived with both large & small dogs. We believe Arlo would be suitable to live with other dogs, or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have another dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Arlo tested well with cats & pocket pets. We believe that he could be suitable to live with small animals if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
He still has so much to learn about the world and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Arlo will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Arlo has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.
Arlo's adoption fee is $600 and includes his desexing & lifetime registration.
Arlo is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
