About Freyja
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Freyja
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Siberian Husky x German Shepherd
BREED TRAITS: the Husky is intelligent, sensitive, friendly and gentle but has an independence which requires experienced owners. Their ability to learn is great but they can be stubborn as they nurture a free spirit. Huskies are great escape artists that require high fencing that cannot be jumped or dug under - plenty of exercise and obedience training is required for this high energy dog to reduce boredom and unwanted behaviours. Huskies generally love people and other dogs and don't like being alone - they are definitely pack animals. They have a high prey drive and cannot generally live with other small species.
German Shepherd was bred to herd flocks all day, is intelligent and makes a great working dog in many areas. This high energy dog needs a lot of activity and exercise, and is otherwise likely to chew and bark, obedience training is a must. German Shepherds make devoted family pets and courageous protectors and early exposure and socialisation will make them more accepting of different people and circumstances. They love to be with their humans so if left alone for long periods they can become anxious. They have quite a high prey drive.
**************************************************************************
ASSETS: Easy going, affectionate, devoted, eager to please, friendly, obedient and playful! She’s just the sweetest girl.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Freyja loves to get out and about for walks and follows her person around when they are in the garden. She also loves to cuddle up with her people for pats and snoozes! She enjoys trips out in the car and just generally being with her humans.
ENDEARING FEATURES: She has a beautiful nature and is very loyal and affectionate. She’s a great companion to have around.
OTHER ANIMALS: Freyja gets on well with other dogs after gentle introduction and could live with another friendly dog in her new home - she has always lived with a male doggy friend. She won’t be suitable for homing with any small animals or birds as she has shown chasing behaviour. She is gentle around respectful children.
GENERAL INFO: Freyja needs some lead training as she will pull on the lead when out walking at times. She is housetrained, rarely barks and is well mannered in the home. She has a medium to high energy level so will need regular exercise and interaction as she is a smart cookie. She knows most commands and is a generally a very well-behaved girl. She has never been left for long periods so wouldn't suit full time workers.
ESSENTIALS for Freyja:
** A loving, active home with someone there for at least part of the day
** Good daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. A home that is willing to involve her in daily activities is essential for her as she loves to be right where you are
** Freyja needs a well fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore - remember she is part Husky
** Freyja needs to be allowed to have access to inside the home and to sleep inside at night
Freyja could live with dog-savvy, gentle children over 10 who will treat her gently, being mindful that as she is a mature dog. She would enjoy living with another dog or at the very least would like to have regular interaction with other friendly dogs if her people are very present in her life.
If Freyja sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we’ll be in touch soon.
