About Sandi - 6 Year Old Tenterfield Terrier
Sandi is a 6 year old Tenterfield Terrier and weighs in at just under 3.5kg.
Although she was very timid and nervous when she came into care, she is now a lovely gentle, beautiful natured girl, who relishes in following you around all day and being involved in all activities. She thrives on affection and positive, gentle conversation.
She happily shares her foster home with a similar aged larger female dog and regular visits from her foster carer's son’s Border Collie. She would greatly benefit from living with another dog or dogs to provide her with comfort, guidance and confidence. She would be more suited to calmer dogs who don’t want to play and wrestle with her, but are happy for her to snuggle up to them.
Although initially, the harness and lead were new to Sandi, she is now very happy to come to me to put them on and enjoy her daily walks. She loves our long runs on the beach and easily keeps up with the bigger dogs. She is happy to meet other dogs during her walks and will sit patiently next to me at outdoor areas of cafes.
Sandi loves to be with you and will dive onto your lap at every chance she gets, and is nearly house trained. There is the occasional lapse during these very wet weeks.
She has very good recall and will always come when called. She travels well in the car and is happy either on my lap in the front or secured on the back seat hammock with the other dogs.
Sandi requires little upkeep other than keeping the toenails trimmed, the teeth cleaned and weekly brushing to remove loose hair.
She is very good around visting toddler grandchildren but may find living with young children a bit stressful.
Sandi is going to need patience and understanding whilst settling into her new home. Therefore, experience with rescue dogs would be beneficial but not essential. She will need time in her new surroundings in a calm space to decompress and observe her new environment.
Sandi is in foster care in Valentine (Lake Macquarie), NSW. Her adoption fee is $600 and is not for adoption interstate. She is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, worms, vet checked and microchipped.
