Seeking a special home for two special cats.
Sadly we found these two sweethearts at a shelter and on a list of cats due to be put down for being "too timid". But luckily, thanks to some amazing people, we were able to get them out of there and give them a second chance at a great life.
We think they must have been colony cats before they ended up in the shelter as they were very VERY scared when they first arrived in our care. They clearly had not had much contact with humans up until that point.
But with time and love they have started to find their confidence and their beautiful personalities are beginning to shine through. They are becoming more comfortable around people every day.
When they first arrived we placed them in a large play pen so they had their own safe space and they just hid in one of the cat caves we provided, refusing to come out when people were around. But this wasn't such a bad thing as while they were confined in their cat cave we were able to introduce ourselves and start to handle them.
Both Pearl and Ty would let us pat them but you could tell they were not a fan. Pearl would flatten her ears, growl and hiss while being stroked, while Ty just looked frightened. But both would put up with the attention until you were done.
Here's a video of Pearl and TY on our socials not long after they arrived:

We spent a lot of time giving them lots of little treats so that they started to associate people with food and by doing their we slowly started to gain their trust. Both kitties love the lickable tube treats so it was just a matter of lick, pat, lick, pat.
Both kitty cats are now out and about, freely roaming around with the other cats and having a great time. Both are still very timid but are gaining confidence every day. They hand out together, play and wrestle with each other and the other cats. But will run for cover if you move suddenly or come too close.
Pearl is the braver of the two and is generally happy to hang out near by as long as you're not being to scary :) More than once we've found her snoozing away a foot away from our feet. She generally likes to hang out on one of our elevated platforms where she feels safe and will let you pat her if you approach slowly.
Ty has been much slower to adapt and we had not seen much of him until recently. He would hide under the couch and only come out when the sun went down. But recently he's been spending the majority of his time out and about with his sister. Like Pearl he is very calm if you are stationary, sitting at a desk or on the couch, but if you move suddenly or come too close he will bolt for cover.
But I think both cats will find their confidence quickly if you're leading with yummy treats each time you come near them. Somthing that is very tough for us to do with so many other cats running around.
We would love to find Pearl and Ty a quiet home with loving and patient people who are willing to give them the time and love they need to find their confidence and let their beautiful personalities being to shine through. Loud kids or dogs are out of the questions but if you have an older cat that can take them under their wing and show them the way that would be sensational. They love other cats and would do well with a big brother or sister.
We would love to find them a family who are willing to put the time and energy into continuing their development. We have no doubt that in the right environment, with a lot of work and heaps of treats, they will flourish you'll find yourself with two incredibly special little angels on your hands.
Pearl and Ty are approximately 6 months old, have been desexed, microchipped and vaccinated and are available to the right home.
If you think you have the room in your heart and your home to provide these gorgeous little souls with a great life please let us know and we’ll be happy to have a chat to discuss.

A little about us:
Urban Feline Australia is a newly established cat rescue service, run by one passionate individual with the help of friends and volunteers, that is dedicated to keeping cats out of kill shelters and helping them find loving forever homes. We specialize in helping "surrenders" which are cats that have lived with humans previously but for one reason or another their owners are unfortunately no longer able to look after them. We take your pets into our amazing cat sanctuary where they're treated with love and affection until the right forever home is found for them.
Urban Feline Australia is not a large company with government resources, a large facility and a lot of staff. Our tiny rescue is a one man operation run from the safety of our own home. We do this for the love of animals and our only agenda is to save as many cats as we can. We rely heavily on cooperation from friends, other rescues, our amazing foster carers and the kindness of strangers to survive. Every cent we receive from donations and adoption fees is used to keep our rescue running and cover the cost of food, water, litter, equipment and vet bills for the animals in our care.
We are doing as much as we can right now but our dream is to one day be able to purchase a larger property or facility that would allow us to be able to save the lives of many more cats in need. Perhaps even open a cat cafe so that we can spread our message to a wider audience.
We have recently created a Go Fund Me towards this end so if you would like to donate towards our cause please follow the below link.
