Meet Yogi,
Looking for a big, happy-go-lucky buddy to join your adventures? Say hello to Yogi! With his handsome looks, wiggly tail, and all-around cheerful nature, Yogi is a total heart-stealer.
Yogi is a large dog, so he's best suited to experienced dog lovers who are comfortable with his size – but don’t let that fool you! He’s as gentle as they come. Whether you're in a busy household or a quiet one, Yogi is easy going and adaptable, ready to settle into any home with ease.
This lovable goof ball is playful, social, and always up for a walk (or cuddle). He’s curious about the world, confident in new situations, and smart enough to keep you on your toes. Whether you're heading out for a hike or just hanging in the backyard, Yogi will be right by your side, soaking up every minute.
Most of all, Yogi is affectionate, sweet-natured, and just wants to be loved. He has a way of making people smile without even trying – and once you meet him, you’ll understand why. If you're looking for a bright, beautiful dog with a big heart (and an even bigger personality), Yogi is ready to meet you!
Ideal Home: Yogi is suitable to live in a standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Family: Yogi is open to meet kids of any age. Yogi loves everyone that he meets but kids should be aware of his size, especially during play time as he may accidently knock smaller kids over.
Yogi is fine to spend time in the yard on his own but would thrive in a home that allows him access inside, too. Yogi is fine to live with people who work full-time but we feel that he would prefer someone whose home more often than not.
Furry Friends: Yogi is open to meet other dogs. During his dog assessment he was able to make friends but also able to do his own thing without being distracted or hyper focused. He has a puppy-like play style but is also gentle and tolerant of other dogs that are boisterous.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Yogi would go living with/meeting cats & pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Yogi would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes would also be good too, to ensure that he learns proper manners when socialising with other dogs.
Yogi is still learning his name, but he knows commands such as: sit, shake & he is also learning down, too. He is clever & very trainable. He is food motivated too, and is gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Yogi has mid-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise, play, or walks from 30-60mins a day to keep him healthy & happy. Yogi shows interest in playing with toys - he likes playing with soft toys. He also really likes personal play with his handlers & cuddles & sitting on your lap, too!
Yogi walks well with not many issues at all if we are being completely honest. He is best to be walked on a harness or collar.
Staff Comments: Yogi, aka Yogi Bear, got his name because he is smarter than the average dog when it comes to winning your heart. Yogi loves a cuddle, infect he would spend every waking moment in your lap if he could. Yogi is an overall quiet dog who only vocalises during play time.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
