About Trigger

Trigger is a striking 7.5-year-old male German Shepherd who is looking for a new home due to no fault of his own. Trigger’s family are struggling to find the time to give Trigger the active lifestyle and attention he needs; with little exercise or stimulation, he has been barking recently out of pure boredom.
Trigger is happy to meet new people and welcoming to all visitors in his home, especially if they will play with him and throw his ball. Trigger is an outdoor only dog and the only value he really sees in people currently is as a playmate, he isn’t overly affectionate at first but is happy to hang out and follow you around. Trigger will take treats and do commands, but toys are life.
Trigger currently lives with small children and is indifferent with them, if they can’t play, he is not bothered by them, if they can, he is their new best friend! Trigger has previously stolen the children’s toys; he is very cheeky and will sneak them outside to claim as his own – this is why he is no longer an indoor dog. Trigger would suit most family dynamics so long as any children are dog savvy and supervised at all times.
Trigger is not only toy motivated but also likes treats too and will work for them; he knows his basic commands and is eager to learn more, he is a smart, capable dog that will thrive with ongoing training in his new home. Whilst Trigger knows his manners, he will need reminding of them at times, especially when out on a walk and will need to work on his focus and impulse control when he sees other dogs.
Trigger will soon be entering his golden years, despite this, he is still an active boy that will need daily exercise to stay happy and healthy. Trigger would enjoy daily walks, playtime in his yard, and interactive play and training sessions that get his mind working. Trigger would not be suited to a small yard in suburbia and is not suited to first time dog owners.
Trigger can become very overstimulated and reactive to other dogs when out on a walk, he seems to be suffering from leash frustration and does a lot better when given time and space to meet other dogs. Trigger has met other dogs in home environments in the past and recently had a play date with a small dog, he was very indifferent and more focused on his toy.
Trigger may be able to live with another dog in his new home pending a successful meet and greet, a dog who is also obsessed with toys may pose a problem, Trigger has never had to share before and thinks everything belongs to him, he would suit a more chilled companion or would need an experienced owner that can manage this. Trigger would be absolutely fine living on his own as he has done so for his entire life, his new family will need to work on his social skills meeting new dogs out and about.
Trigger has not been tested with cats or other small pets.
Despite Trigger currently being an outdoor dog, this wasn’t always the case, he was previously inside and enjoyed being wherever his humans were. We would love to find Trigger a home where he will have a warm, fluffy bed inside and maybe even a big toybox of his own; we want him to be treated as a valued member of the family and not a pet that is confined to just the backyard day in and day out.
If you are looking for a playful companion but aren’t wanting the silly antics that come with adopting a younger dog, you can have the best of both worlds with our gorgeous Trigger, he is sensible and generally well-behaved but also playful, goofy and always up for an adventure!

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
