Burton

Burton is a special guy. He is almost 11 ½ years old. He is a distinguished gentleman in ever sense of the word. Burton is easy going and gets along with everyone. He is the sweetest boy, but he does have a significant heart murmur.
The thing with heart murmurs in rescue dogs is that we never know how long they have been there or if they have changed over time. Sometimes, they are only discovered incidentally or at a health check, which many rescue dogs have never had.
The way we look at heart murmurs is this. If there are no symptoms, we leave well enough alone and monitor. If there are symptoms, we treat with medication. Symptoms include coughing and a swollen tummy but as with all things, we advise following medical advice.
Despite his heart condition, Burton loves to chase a ball. He is a darling boy who will bring lots of love to his new family.
Whoever takes Burton on will need to understand that he probably will need medication at some stage and be prepared for that ongoing cost.
Burton has had all of his vet work done, including a long overdue dental surgery.
