About Reggie
Reggie (Regina) is a 1 year 1 month old mix breed girl that recently returned to our care. We suspect Reggie's breed mix is pointer mastiff and stag hound.
Being only 1 year old Reggie's puppy brain is still somewhat active and she can be a little naughty at times but this will settle as she gets older. Upside is Reggie is a cleaver dog who loves her food so further training should not be too difficult. At the time of writing this Reggie knows sit, down (get down), no, finish (stop what you are doing playing, barking etc), dinner time, go for a wee, go for a walk, treat and stay. Stay only lasts for a few seconds but it is a start and should improve with further training.
Reggie enjoys going for a walk and loves meeting other dogs and people, but unfortunately she has a habbit of jumping up at people currently. We would expect this to settle with training and as she gets older. Reggie does pull on the lead especially if she sees another dog or a person. Her foster carer is currently using a Halti collar which Reggie is getting used to and it works well to reduce pulling.
Reggie is currently in foster care with 3 other dogs whom she gets on well with and enjoys playing with. Reggie also enjoys playing with her human and on her own with her toys. She has recently learnt to sit and wait for her food but the sit only lasts for a few seconds, with further work I am sure this can be improved. Reggie is house trained and will let you know by crying when she needs to go out.
Reggie has grown up in a home with someone around 24/7 so it is taking some adjustment to be home without a human for periods of time. Her reliance has reduced a little and given time, we would expect it to reduce further. For this reason Reggie would be better suited in a home where someone is home most of the time.
If you are looking for a very friendly young dog then this is the girl for you. Reggie has prey drive so not suitable in a home with cats or pocket pets. She would be best suited in a home with older school aged children or all adult home.
Reggie has been flea and worm treated, fully vaccinated, desexed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $600.

Adoption details
We like to take the personal approach where a person sends an email of interest around an animal and then we will follow up with phone discussions and email exploration through a survey.
Please note we are a small group of volunteers that balances the administrative side with the care of the animals.
Please only apply for one of our animals if you are genuinely interested in them.
We expect the prospective owner to travel to meet the animal and we are open to trial periods to ensure we have the match right.
