About Finn
Introducing Finn!
Finn is a Mastiff x born approx 29th May 2020.
Finn was brought into the facility as an unmicrochipped stray, (along with another large male dog) after being found in a known dog dumping area. Both boys were completely covered in scabs, scars, wounds & injuries, which we can only guess were made by multiple dog attacks. Finn was understandably very scared & shut down when he first arrived. No one came looking for either dog.
Since being at the facility Finn has started to feel more comfortable and is slowly showing his beautiful & gentle nature. He's very gentle when taking food & treats. He does walk on lead, however sometimes he needs a bit of encouragement if he's going to new areas.
Given the condition he came in, fast movements and loud noises frighten him, which means he cowers a lot however using a soft/reassuring touch & voice is usually enough to settle him. He will need a calm, loving & patient owner who is willing to help heal his emotional wounds while he learns he can trust humans again. While we haven't seen him interact with children, we are recommending a home with either no children, or children over 10yrs as younger ones may be too loud, fast & overwhelming for him.
Finn tested fairly well with other dogs considering the condition he came to us in. He's a very wiggly & happy boy with smaller pups. He was the same when first meeting another large-ish male, however when the large male got excited and raced up to his face, Finn did growl out of fear but tried walking away instead of reacting further. We believe Finn would be suitable to live with another gentle/smaller dog, or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have another dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Finn was unfazed by cats & pocket pets during his testing. We believe he could be suitable to live with small animals if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
He still has so much to learn about the world and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Finn will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Finn has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.
Finn's adoption fee is $475 and includes his desexing & lifetime registration.
Finn is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
