Meet Winston – Your Pocket-Sized Comedian with a Big Heart!
Hello, my name is Winston. I’m a handsome, 5-year-old Cavoodle with a
curly coat and a goofy streak that’ll keep you smiling. Life with me
is never boring – I’m curious, affectionate, and always ready for a
game of fetch or a nap on the couch (preferably your lap).
I’ve lived my whole life with a loving family, but lately I’ve been
struggling to cope in a home with a small child. I get overwhelmed by
the unpredictable energy of toddlers, and also kids up to around the age
of 15. It's their unpredictability that I'm uncertain of. Recently
I’ve started reacting in ways that show I’m not comfortable. This is
a very hard decision for my family, but they want the best for me –
and that means a quieter, child-free home where I can feel safe and
understood.
My Highlights:
* I’m house-trained and sleep like a champ on the couch.
* I’ve had lots of obedience training and I’m super smart.
* I travel well in the car and love going on adventures.
* I get along with other oodles and some other dogs, though I can be a bit
choosy at first.
* I’ve been regularly groomed and vet-checked – and I’m desexed,
vaccinated, and up to date on everything.
My Quirks (Hey, we all have them!):
* I get hyper-aroused when overstimulated and may bark or jump up.
* I’m not a fan of toddlers and would do best in a home with adults or
older teens.
* I have a tendency to guard food and treats, so I’ll need a confident
handler who can help me feel secure.
* I can get anxious if left alone too long, but a few hours is usually
fine.
* I’m looking for a dog-savvy, patient person or couple who
understands that I’m not perfect – but I’m working on it! With the
right guidance and structure, I know I’ll shine. I thrive in calm
homes where routines are predictable and love flows freely.
The right family for me is one who can lovingly guide me with time,
patience, and consistency, helping me learn all the best ways we can
live happily together. I’ll thrive with people who are committed to a
steady training routine and who understand that good things take time.
Are you ready to open your heart to a quirky, loyal companion who just
needs the right environment to flourish? If so, I’m here, tail
wagging, waiting to meet you.
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm
testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If
a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions. Weight: 12kg.
Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

Please note that we do not take/make telephone calls prior to receiving an application.
Commonly asked questions and their answers are provided when you email us. Unfortunately we usually will not have time to reply to enquiries in more detail and will give priority to completed applications over enquiries. Priority will also be given to typed applications which are easier for us to read and to copy relevant parts.
We look forward to receiving your application.
