Gorgeous Nyx is one of the most loving and cuddly little ladies you are ever likely to meet. Not long after stepping out of her cat carrier she was wanting pats from her foster carer and a day or two later she was hanging out with the other cats on the couch having cuddles.

Formerly known as "unnamed black cat" we found Nyx on a list of cats due to be put down at a nearby shelter. But luckily, thanks to some amazing people, we were able to get her out of there in time and she's now living the good life with her new foster family.

Nyx is also very maternal and has quickly taken on the role of mother to the kittens in her foster home. She had her own kittens in the shelter but we do not know what has happened to them :(

But she is now always with her foster kittens, showering them with love, and will sit and make sure that they have eaten their fill before she touches her own dinner.

It's really quite beautiful.

She's also not shy, is very curious and confident, and will quickly step out of her cat carrier in her new home and start claiming everything, including you, as her own. Nyx gets on well with other cats but she definitely acts like the alpha female.

We could see her doing really well in a household where she is the only cat so she can be the queen of her castle. Or in a home that has a younger cat so that she can assume the big sister / mumma role.

Nyx is approximately 12 months old and will be available for adoption very soon.

Urban Feline Australia is a newly established cat rescue service, run by one passionate individual with the help of friends and volunteers, that is dedicated to keeping cats out of kill shelters and helping them find loving forever homes. We specialize in helping "surrenders" which are cats that have lived with humans previously but for one reason or another their owners are unfortunately no longer able to look after them. We take your pets into our amazing cat sanctuary where they're treated with love and affection until the right forever home is found for them.

Urban Feline Australia is not a large company with government resources, a large facility and a lot of staff. Our tiny rescue is a one man operation run from the safety of our own home. We do this for the love of animals and our only agenda is to save as many cats as we can. We rely heavily on cooperation from friends, other rescues, our amazing foster carers and the kindness of strangers to survive. Every cent we receive from donations and adoption fees is used to keep our rescue running and cover the cost of food, water, litter, equipment and vet bills for the animals in our care.

We are doing as much as we can right now but our dream is to one day be able to purchase a larger property or facility that would allow us to be able to save the lives of many more cats in need. Perhaps even open a cat cafe so that we can spread our message to a wider audience.
