About Haven

Meet Haven – Looking for Her SAFE Haven

Haven is one of those truly special dogs who etches her pawprint on your heart from the moment you meet her. She’s not just beautiful on the outside – though those soulful eyes and glossy coat certainly turn heads – but inside she’s bursting with loyalty, love and an unstoppable desire to please.

A Loyal Shadow
Haven is happiest by your side, and we mean that literally. She follows her person everywhere, always watching and waiting for her next cue. Initially, she may be skittish on-lead and her recall may be selective, but given time to bond she has shown great improvement in both areas.

Fun but Not Frantic
She loves a good fetch session – especially if there’s praise involved – but she’s not over the top about it. She enjoys play, especially when it includes you, and she’ll even initiate games with other dogs… but usually when you're not around. She's got that soft, watchful loyalty that means you are her whole world.

Dog & Cat Friendly – With a Few Quirks
Haven gets along with other dogs and enjoys their company, but can resource guard her people to varying degrees. On the mild end she stiffens or leans in closer—her way of saying, “This human is mine.” She has also demonstrated less subtle resource guarding on occasion, and we are working on nipping this in the bud. Her current carer has no cats, but her carer in Carnarvon did—there she was okay – would push them away if they came too close to you. She would not be ideal with young kittens due to her boisterousness, but might suit a confident adult cat in a calm household.

Great with Kids
"Absolutely. She adores people and so wants to please. She lives to be told she’s a good girl," said her Carnarvon carer. She can get a little over-eager and resorts to jumping to get your attention (which wouldn’t be good for children under 10), but consistently NOT responding to her demands should stop her jumping. She takes correction well and learns fast.

Bright, Willing & Eager to Learn
Haven is clever and always keen to figure things out. With the right guidance, she’ll thrive. She’s at that stage where she might chew or dig if bored, so we recommend a strong meaty bone or long-lasting chew when you leave for work. Enrichment toys, training games, and regular company will all help this smart girl succeed.

Health Note
Haven has beaten ehrlichiosis and is now fully recovered and clear. She’s ready to take on the world – or at least a couch and backyard – with her adoptive family.

Ideal Home
Haven would love someone around a bit, or another dog for company. She gets lonely on long days, though her carer reports she copes well if given toys and a lunchtime visit. She’d do best in a home that values bonding, companionship, and where she’s not left as an afterthought – she just wants to love and be loved in return. Haven's Carnarvon carer really bonded with Haven, claiming you’d be hard put to find a more loyal dog.

If you’re looking for a faithful best friend who will worship the ground you walk on, Haven might just be your match.
