About Mochi
Meet Mochi! A beautiful loyal sheepdog with a big heart! 🧡
Mochi has been such a loved boy since he was a pup. His owner adores this boy and wants him to find a home that will make him happy! 💔
He is a Smithfield Sheepdog, which is a type of English sheepdog. 🐏
He has a big bark but he never barks without a reason. A few times when he is left alone just to let you know he misses you, but after a few he is quiet. 👌⌚
He is great on his lead and is very obedient and calm on walks. He stops at roads and crosses nicely on a short lead, no pulling or jerking. Bigger walks are best for this boy! 🦮
He’s also a great off-lead dog with excellent recall if he wanders too far, but generally he always wants to keep you insight so will never run away. He loves an off-lead walk or a run on the beach. He’s a great swimmer and will dive into any body of water, something to watch out for if you are near a murky pond. 🏊♂️
He’s an excellent fetcher, great playing with other dogs, never steels balls! 🥎 He will assert himself if needed around aggressive dogs but prefers to just avoid any dog he may not get along with. He had lived happily with a male and female Groodle so he should be fine with other pets after a short period of adjustment. 🐶🐶
Around the house he is very chill, loves a pat and a belly rub and is happy to just be a good boy. He’s great company, present without being needy and always ready for a cuddle. 🧸
He likes to sing to music, particularly jazz so if you are a person who needs music in the house, this could get annoying, but it can also be hilarious when he starts howling randomly to a melody. 🎵
As long as he gets some exercise once a day, Mochi is a very easy going, low maintenance companion who will be sure to give you lots of love and laughs. He’s great around all humans once he gets to know them. 👍
A little wary of young children due to lack of exposure so I think he would be happiest in a home with older children who can play fetch with him or a home with adult owners. We think a home with teenagers may be perfect. 👨👩👧👧
He loves the car and dangling his head out the window, will jump into any car, including cars of strangers. Always keen to go on an adventure. Due to his love of singing off-key maybe avoid music in the car. He may also bark a bit on car rides if he is over excited. 🚗
He has been trained to sit for treats and it’s easy to get his attention with a treat in your hand, so would be easy to train as he picks things up quickly. 🎓
Due to his sheepdog coat, he usually gets a full clip during the summer months to avoid getting matted with prickles. His coat is very easy to manage compared with other long haired dogs and is surprisingly self cleaning. 💇♂️
He will eat anything, loves bones which are good for his teeth, but I just feed him dry dog food morning and night and he is most grateful and never fussy. 🍗
A sad note from his owner “I love this dog so much and it breaks my heart to have to give him up, but I want above all else for him to be happy. 💔
He needs a home where he can live and sleep inside with his family but also have access to a well fenced yard.

Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need-Brisbane website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. Our emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
Please note all our cats are indoor cats only.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
