About Billy
Meet Billy — a gentle giant with a heart of gold 💛
Billy is a delightful 9-year-old Wolfhound x Bullmastiff who, at 51.8 kg, is truly the definition of a gentle giant.
Placid, happy and quietly funny, Billy has a beautiful balance of playfulness and relaxation, sprinkled with just enough giant-dog goofiness to lift even the gloomiest mood.
Recently, Billy met a new human friend who invited him to sit with her on the grass. Billy happily accepted… and promptly sat right on her lap. Personal space is optional when you’re a Wolfie.
Billy is also an excellent communicator. If dinner is late, he’ll start with a few polite whimpers. If those are ignored, he follows up with a single, deep “hurry up” bark. When he decides it’s time for his human to get out of bed, he simply stands beside it and stares… and stares… and stares.
He has a reliable recall, sits on command, and walks well in a harness once the initial enthusiasm settles (he may wander across your path a little). Billy is friendly with dogs he knows but, if out and about, he can be highly reactive to dogs and people that approach him. Therefore, his ideal family will not expect him to go walking in public places or go to dog parks.
Billy is very smart and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement, making it easy to build on his already good manners.
Despite his age, Billy is still playful and quite bouncy — but always gentle. He would suit a family with older children, or an older couple or individual looking for the unique warmth and devotion that only a Wolfhound can give.
His favourite activity is playing fetch in the backyard, which gives him the exercise he needs without requiring long walks. Outside of playtime, Billy loves lolling about in the sunshine or enjoying a quiet day at home with his people.
He is not keen on cats and, while on leash, can be reactive to unknown dogs he meets on neutral territory.
Adaptable, loyal, affectionate and laid back, Billy would fit into most homes with secure fencing, some yard space for fetch, and plenty of love and companionship.
