Meet Toby - Sensitive, Smart, and Ready to Bond
Toby is a clever, affectionate young dog who's looking for a calm and
committed home. He's fully house trained, doesn't chew or damage
anything indoors, and enjoys relaxing next to his person during the day.
Although small in size, Toby is alert and scent-driven, and needs daily
walks and mental engagement to stay settled. Without it, he becomes
anxious and uncertain. He's quick to learn and has a solid foundation in
basic training, but still needs someone who will guide him consistently
and with patience.
Toby hasn't shown any signs of reactivity or aggression with other dogs
but is still largely untested. He's sensitive to noise and sudden
sounds, but gains confidence with a steady, calm human by his side. He
looks for guidance and really wants to get things right.
His main challenge is separation anxiety - he becomes distressed when
left alone, even briefly. His foster carer is working on crate training
and gradual desensitisation, but this is a long-term process that needs
time, patience, and consistency. He'll need someone home most of the
time, especially early on.
Toby is slowly building confidence. He's still flighty, but less so each
day. If something knocks his confidence, it can set him back
significantly, so it's important his new home is understanding and
supportive. He hasn't had much exposure to the outside world and becomes
easily overstimulated, so progress needs to be slow and steady.
He's incredibly affectionate, full of character, and eager to please. At
the same time, he's still learning about boundaries and how to make
decisions for himself. With ongoing support and structure, he'll
continue to grow into a more confident, balanced dog.
Toby is best suited to a calm home with someone experienced in working
with anxious or highly sensitive dogs. If you're patient, present, and
willing to put in the time, you'll be rewarded with a loving, loyal
companion who just wants to feel safe and connected
Please note: our dogs are not available for interstate adoption. We also do not adopt to people under the age of 25 years.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped,
wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals,
surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm

a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.

Adoption details
We are a community fostercare network, not a shelter, and our dogs and cats are cared for in private homes. Note that we are very careful where we rehome our dogs and cats and we have an intensive process. If you want a quick turnaround we are not the group for you. If you seem like a good match for the dog of your choice we will organise a telephone chat, a meet and greet and a property check. We offer free assistance for six weeks for any issues, a lifetime takeback policy with full refund of the adoption fee, and will always be available to offer advice.
We care for our dogs and cats and we want you to as well. We know that genuine applicants have no trouble with this process and understand that if we refuse you a dog or cat, it is because you are not the best match for that pet.
Our commitment to the dogs and cats in our care is total and we treat each one as if we are passing on a family pet. This may not suit you so we point out that there are equally great dogs and cats available in pounds, shelters and with other rescue groups.

We look forward to receiving your application.
