Meet Scallop,
Scallop is a goofy, lovable boy with a heart of gold. This cheerful boy brings fun wherever he trots, and his playful energy is nothing short of contagious. He’s incredibly people-oriented, thrives in social settings, and adores romping with other dogs. There’s never a dull moment with Scallop around — whether he’s discovering a new toy or just being his excitable, cuddly self.
Scallop is a confident young dog with a curious mind and a playful streak. He’s super social and loves being part of the action - he loves a walk in the park, a backyard game, or just hanging out with his people. If your home is a little loud or lively, no problem! Scallop thrives in the hustle and bustle. He’s well-suited to first-time dog owners and would be a perfect match for active folks or families who love spending time outdoors.
Ideal Home: Scallop is suitable to live in a standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Family: Scallop is open to meet kids of any age - he's a very playful boy, so kids would need to be dog savvy.
Scallop is also fine to spend time in the yard on his own, but would love the opportunity to be inside with his new family. Scallop is fine to live with people who work full-time hours as he has no signs of separation anxiety.
Furry Friends: Scallop is open to meet dogs. He came in with his four other siblings and learned how to play with other dogs - although sometimes he can play a little rough. He's been an active member is social walks and group play dates while he's been with us too. His dog assessment showed that he is eager to meet other dogs and make friends.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Scallop would go living with or meeting cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of his new owners.
Training & Development: Scallop would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes would be good too, so that he can continue his interactions with new/existing dogs in and outside of the home.
Scallop is still learning his name and is also still learning commands. He is food motivated, and gentle when taking treats from you but sometimes he forgets his manners - but having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Scallop has mid to high-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise or walks from 20-30mins a day to keep him healthy & happy. Scallop doesn't really show interest in playing with toys - he prefers personal play, walks, social dog groups & interaction with his handlers.
Scallop walks well on lead, but can pull on occasion. He is best to be walked on a martingale.
Staff Comments: Scallop is known to be a little dopey at times... but that’s just why we love him. He's a lovely boy who is fun to be around. Despite his silliness Scallop enjoys learning new things and training sessions with his handlers are one of his favourite things to do.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
The adoption fee for dogs covers C5 vaccination, health check, heartworm testing, desexing, micro-chipping, and registration.
