Desi’s story began in the most unlikely way—curled up in the dirt, starving and alone, mistaken for an echidna by wildlife rescuers. What they actually found was a gravely ill kitten, barely clinging to life. One eye was already beyond saving, and the other wasn’t looking good either.

Those first few weeks were touch and go. But with round-the-clock care, love, and lots of specialist veterinary care, Desi pulled through. She had surgery to remove her damaged eye, and we saved as much vision as possible in the other. Against all odds, she survived—and now she’s thriving.

Today, Desi is healthy, playful, and affectionate. Her partial sight doesn’t hold her back one bit. Once she’s familiar with her surroundings, she’s just like any other cat: she chases toy mice and ping pong balls (anything with a bit of sound or texture), explores confidently, and snuggles on the lounge every evening with her lovely little purr.

Desi chirps back when you talk to her and enjoys listening to music, especially when it’s soft and soothing.

Desi is a clever girl with a huge heart, but she needs someone special—someone who sees past her low vision disability, because she certainly does.

Desi’s ideal home:
• A quiet, indoor-only environment
• One or two people who won’t move furniture around too much
• No dogs, please—Desi hasn’t been around them and they would overwhelm her
• She may be okay with another calm cat, introduced slowly and gently
• Ideally, she'd shine as the only pet, soaking up all your love.

Desi has been through so much and come out the other side full of trust, hope and affection. Now all she needs is a forever person to share her next chapter with.
