About Gypsy
Hello, world!
My name is Gypsy, and if you're looking for a touch of shaggy-chic to brighten your days, well, you might just be in luck.
You see, my story started a little rough around the edges – think back-alley deals involving a well-meaning samaritan and a whisper of unfortunate fates in a pub (no, I wasn’t drinking).
Let's just say, when I arrived in foster care, my ribs were playing a sad little xylophone solo and vaccinatons were something I'd only heard whispered in puppyhood tales.
But look at me now!
I'm a stunning, black shaggy girl, approximately 2 years old and currently tipping the scales at a respectable (but still slightly runway-model-esque) 24kg.
A few more gourmet meals in my future and I'll be just right!
I'm hanging out in Darra, near Brisbane, and I'm ready to find my forever castle.
Important stuff first: I'm desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm-tested. Fleas and ticks? Consider them ancient history! My adoption fee is $795, which is a small price to pay for all this fluff and love, wouldn't you agree?
Plus, I'm a Shepoodle (The Village FOLK cringe at these names I know but that’s who I am). My mum's working hard for the NSW Police and my dad's a purebred poodle with a heart of gold. Good genes, good looks, good dog – it's scientific fact!
Now, about me. I was a little nervous when I first arrived, unsure about people and other dogs. I was timid at first, but I warm up quickly. I love pats, and if you're not careful, I might just steal your paw for a cuddle. I sleep soundly at night (next to my housemate, if they'll have me), and I have no apparent separation anxiety when left with my furry friends.
Car rides? Absolutely Yes please - I'm ready for adventure!
Plus, I've got manners: I'm toilet trained, know how to use a doggy door, am not destructive with chewing and know to sit when asked.
I get along well with both small and large dogs, and I've been around cats.
I'm generally quiet, but I will bark at passers-by, so consider me your personal alert system (free of charge!).
I walk nicely on a lead and have a similar gait to a German Shepherd, which, let’s be honest, makes me look rather majestic.
Yes, I had a brief encounter with a loaf of bread on the kitchen counter when I first arrived (a girl's gotta eat), but I've learned my lesson... mostly.
Now, here's the important bit.
Because I'm obviously going to be incredibly popular (just look at this face), my foster mum will be choosing the home that's the perfect match for me. A home where I can sleep inside, preferably in your bedroom or the lounge room. A home where I have access to the house during the day while you're at work. A home where I'm included on car trips and family adventures. And most importantly, a home where I can be a dog, not a service animal – I deserve a life of my own, filled with love and belly rubs.
If you think your home could be my forever home, please tell us everything about yourself and the amazing life you could offer me.
Don't be shy – lay it on thick!
Because let's face it, a shaggy girl like me deserves nothing but the best.

How to Adopt: A Step-By-Step Guide:
1. Browse Our Selection: Visit our Animals page and use the menu to view the various pets we have available. Choose between cats and dogs to narrow your search.
2. Expression of Interest: Found a pet that captures your heart? Reach out to us for an Expression of Interest (EOI) form to initiate the process.
3. Patience is a Virtue: We meticulously review every EOI to ensure each animal goes to the right home. Thank you for your patience during this critical stage.
4. Meet Your Potential Pet: If your EOI is approved, we'll organise a Meet & Greet session. It’s a great opportunity for both you and the animal to see if it’s a perfect match.
5. Adoption Application & Home Review: If you're ready to move forward, you'll need to complete our adoption application and agree to a home review.
6. Review & Approval: Your application and home review will be assessed to guarantee a secure, loving environment for your potential pet.
