About Rooster
Rooster is part goofball, part genius, and 100% ready to steal your heart (and probably your socks). In just a few weeks, he’s already mastered, play dead, sit between the legs, and even sitting under your chair like a polite little gentleman. Basically, he’s got more tricks than your average magician—and yes, he’ll show off for chicken.
He’s playful, clever, and walks like he owns the street ears bouncing in all directions, nose sniffing everything in sight. Tug is his jam, zoomies are his vibe, and chicken is his love language.
And when all that fun is done? He can’t wait to cuddle up on the couch with you and call it a day. Rooster’s got brains, bounce, and a whole lot of heart. If you're looking for a pup with charm, talent, and just a dash of sass—he's your guy.
Rooster loves his neighbourhood walks and knows exactly where the local pubs are. He’ll slow down at each one, pausing like he’s checking if it’s time for a schooner. If we stop, he’s perfectly content to relax and take in the scene—watching people, dogs, and the world go by.
He’s a bit social on his own terms—happy to say hello to friendly strangers, then settle back into his usual chill observer mode. He’s not working the crowd… just quietly judging your drink choice.
Rooster’s Ideal Home: Rooster is a bright, bouncy pup who’s ready to be someone’s sidekick—and he’s looking for a home that gets him. His ideal humans have some experience with dogs, understand puppy energy, and are around more often than not (or can bring him along for the ride).
He’d thrive with folks who enjoy daily walks, playtime, and don’t mind a little goofy energy with their coffee. He’s looking for someone committed to continuing his training and helping him grow into the awesome dog he’s meant to be.
Rooster would do best in a home that offers structure, patience, and a cozy spot on the couch for post-zoomie snuggles.
Energy Level: Rooster has plenty of energy and loves his daily walks. He’s used to regular exercise, but would be thrilled to have a garden to play in. After all the fun, though, he’s more than happy to wind down and curl up on the couch. Rooster is the perfect balance of active and chill!
Suitability with Children: Rooster is not suited for a home with children. He’s still learning boundaries and can be mouthy at times. While he’s made great progress with training, he needs an adult-only home with people who can read dog body language and continue working with him in a consistent, positive way. He thrives with structure, patience, and clear communication.
Suitability with Other Pets: Rooster isn’t a match for a home with cats—he gets overly excited when he sees them on walks and hasn’t been tested in a home setting. When it comes to other dogs, he’s playful and social, but his size and enthusiasm can overwhelm smaller or more sensitive pups. He’s currently the only dog in his foster home, so any future dog siblings would need slow, careful introductions to ensure a good fit.

We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
