About Cillian
Cillian came to us via an emergency vet with no backstory. He stayed pretty well hidden under the table in our kitchen for about a week before he even stood upright with us in the room, and petting him. He LOVES being petted!
We kept him isolated for his safety and comfort, and slowly started to emotionally rehab him. It became demonstrably clear to us that he was once someone's much loved and loving pet. He's uber smoochy, and knows no limits to being petted.
After a couple of weeks, he'd come out with the lure of food. It's the way to his heart. And then, week by week, we were able to increase contact, and we're now at the stage where he'll jump onto our laps for cuddles. LOVES being groomed (it's like a form of pets for him), and I can even pick him up for a cuddle now at 6-8wks time with us. It usually only lasts 10-30secs, but that's a huge improvement from 0secs.
He's a very gentle "sad boy" with us, and gives the softest muffins. Barely any claws felt. Even on very delicate areas. Sadly, he hasn't always played nicely with our older resident cats, so we have to isolate him again and go to him throughout the day and night to give him dedicated time in his room. He does get along with the kitten we took in with him though, and they play together when it's safe to let him out. (When our older cats are up out of the way)
He's extremely food oriented, which could make him a candidate for training. But that's yet to be seen. Maybe once he's settled in a space without other cats, he could have more focus. However, he does respond to being told, "Out please" while I point with my finger when I need him back in his room to avoid a scuffle. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't jump on our bench! Unheard of! LOL
We think Cillian would make a lovely companion for someone seeking a lap cat, or a solo cat. The only exception might be a very chill confident female kitten.
Cillian is a healthy raw/high quality fed cat who has been wormed, flea treated, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped (microchip #956000017378549, source #RE101165). He is available for adoption.
