About Slim
Introducing Slim!
Slim is an English Staffy born 13.02.22.
Slim was brought into the facility as a stray, however when we spoke to his owner he said he didn't want him anymore as he no longer had time for him & with him being an outdoor dog, he was escaping the property while the owner was at work.
Slim's surrender profile states he lived outside so he isn't house trained, he travels well in the car, he has no food aggression, he is good with children, adult strangers & dogs. He is not good with cats & he is untested with pocket pets. His owner also advised that he was able to jump his fencing when it was only 4ft, but wasn't able to jump it when the height was raised to 6ft. When he wasn't able to jump the fence, he did start to dig underneath.
After Slim was surrendered to us he went into foster care and has been an amazing boy. He only had two toileting accidents inside and has been perfectly house trained since. He has been left alone many times & hasn't tried to escape the property at all. He's realised how amazing living in a nice, warm, loving home is and quickly decided he was a couch dog. Slim is food obsessed & eager to please his humans, which makes training a whole lot easier! He has loved every person he's met & is already a crowd favourite at his local Bunnings.
Slim tested well with other dogs, including large & small dogs of both sex. He is very friendly & playful with them, however he can be a little too "romantic" with them, which isn't always appreciated. Since being desexed, this urge has started to ease off, however he may need some extra training in this regard. We believe Slim would be suitable to live with other dogs, or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have another dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Unfortunately Slim doesn't get along with cats or pocket pets, so he will need a home with no small animals.
He still has so much to learn about the world and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Slim will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Slim has shown no signs of food aggression towards humans, however he isn't tested with other animals.
Slim has shown very mild signs of separation anxiety, where he will whine for a short amount of time, then he settles himself & is fine from then on.
Slim's adoption fee is $475 and includes his desexing & lifetime registration.
Slim is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
