Meet Eve,
There’s so much to say about Eve, and all of it speaks to how truly special she is. With her quiet strength and gentle heart, Eve has already lived a big life - raising a litter of beautiful kittens while surviving as a stray. Now, it’s finally her turn to be seen, understood, and loved.
Eve isn’t the type of cat to put on a show or seek the spotlight. She’s a little shy, a little unsure, and sometimes she’ll give a soft hiss when you first say hello - but don’t be fooled because there’s no aggression in her at all, just a cat still learning what safety and trust feels like. She'll surprise you with head bunts, soft purrs, and slow rolls onto her side for extra pats and treats. She’s working hard to be brave, and she’s come such a long way already.
What Eve needs most is someone with patience and kindness - someone who can see her for who she really is. She would thrive in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat owners who understand that every cat shows affection in their own unique way.
Eve is gentle, curious, and independent. She may not run up to greet you straight away, but give her time, and you’ll see her warm spirit shine through. She’s not just looking for a home - she’s looking for someone who will truly see her.
Eve is open to meet kids from 10 years & up. Although she's not at the point of being comfortable enough to be picked up, carried or cuddled, she is still learning to trust and this can take time. Older kids will be able to recognise her needs and allow her to thrive on her own time.
As we cannot test in this environment, we are unsure how Eve would go living with dogs. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
As for cats, again, we haven't really be able to test how she would go living with another cat as we do not want to undo all the progress that she has made. this too would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
We always encourage cats to be indoor cats. Eve has already experienced living outside but she's very happy being an inside cat - she is a very quiet cat who enjoys the peacefulness of inside living where she feels safe. If she is outside, it will increase her chances of running away, getting lost, injured, or worse. As an inside cat she can live her best life possible.
Eve has low to range energy levels & doesn't appear to be that interested in toys but she like is a comfy, safe space to call her own & relax in. And we have a sneaking suspicion that she is more active of a night as her toys are usually moved around her condo and there is evidence of her scratching post being used, too.
Eve is not fussy with her food. She is known to eat any food offered to her and she likes treats, too. But she likes to eat in a quiet area of her condo where she cannot be disturbed. She also really likes creamy tube treats. They make her very happy!
Staff Comments: Eve is a misunderstood cat. She has probably been a stray for a long time, and hasn't had much interaction with people. And while she does hiss when you first meet her there is nothing sinister behind this. She's sweet, loving and just learning a whole new way of living.

Medical notes
Recovered Cat Flu: Historically cat flu has had a negative reputation and can often deter people from adopting; but you wouldn’t actually be able to tell a recovered cat flu cat from a non-cat flu cat. The truth is that many cat flu cats will live happy, healthy, long lives in their new home. So, what is it? Cat flu is caused by a virus. Humans can’t catch it, but other cats can; but only if the cat is showing flu symptoms. Stressful situations like desexing, or a dramatic change in environment can lead to a recovered cat experiencing cat flu again, but this is usually short lived and rarely requires medical intervention. Most cats will recover on their own providing their vaccines are up to date.

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
