Meet Saraya,
Looking for a furry friend who’s the total package? Say hello to Saraya – a gentle, happy-go-lucky girl who’s ready to bring a whole lot of love and sunshine into your life!
Saraya is wonderfully adaptable and would fit right into any home – whether you're a first-time dog owner or part of a bustling household. She’s easy going and not fussy about much, except maybe getting her daily walk in (which she loves, by the way). Her energy needs are pretty flexible, so no need to be a marathon runner to keep her tail wagging!
With her friendly and outgoing nature, Saraya is always up for making new friends – human or otherwise! She's playful, curious, and has that irresistible spark that makes her the life of the party. But don’t worry – she’s also incredibly sweet and affectionate, always ready for a cuddle or a loving nuzzle.
Smart, social, and full of heart, Saraya is the kind of dog who makes everything feel just a little bit brighter. If you’re after a four-legged pal who’s easy to love and even easier to live with, Saraya might just be your girl.
Ideal Home: Saraya is suitable to live in a townhouse, standalone home or on a farm/acerage, with a medium to large yard & high, secure fencing.
Family: Saraya is open to meet kids of any age - she's a wonderful, respectful dog whose not too bouncy or boisterous.
Saraya is fine to spend time in the yard on her own without any problems. On occasion she'd love to be inside with her new family, too. She is fine to live with people who work part-time or full-time.
Furry Friends: Saraya is open to meet other dogs. During her dog assessment she was social, eager to interact and was the first to offer play bows. It was noted that she will retreat away from other dogs that are boisterous & energetic - she prefers a calmer dog with a gentle nature. Once the other dog has calmed, she will re-approach & initiate play again.
As we cannot test in the environment, we are not sure how Saraya would go living with cats/pocket pets. This would be up to the discretion of her new owners.
Training & Development: Saraya would benefit from post-adoption training such as training at home to cover basic commands/obedience. Group classes may also be a good option for Saraya, so that she can learn how to cope when interacting with other dogs that are boisterous. Other than that, Saraya is a pretty easy-going and manageable dog.
With additional training, Saraya could be the type of dog that you could take to a dog friendly café or social setting.
Saraya is still learning her name, but she knows commands such as: sit & down. It's been noted that she is very smart & eager to learn more commands, too. She is also food motivated and is known to be gentle when taking treats from you - so having treats on you during training to mark good behaviour would be an excellent idea.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play: Saraya has mid to high-range energy needs & would benefit from exercise or walks from 20-60mins a day to keep her happy. We are yet to find a toy that Saraya likes but what we do know is that she adores personal play with her handlers and training sessions.
Saraya walks well on a lead with minimal pulling. She is fine to be walked on either a harness or martingale & treats to reward good walking does wonders, too.
Staff Comments: Saraya is very sweet & affectionate. She's also quite smart & you can see that she is eager to learn more commands and tricks. She wants to train but he easy-going enough to not need constant stimulation. She loved her dog to dog assessment where she made friends with other dogs. She's an overall very happy girl who is as easy as they come! She's suitable for most homes and would be an excellent pet for anyone to have!

With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as flawless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories. Most left in the shelter by their owners. The information we receive is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks will surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
So please keep in touch with us after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
