About Crookshanks SUA013847
Meet Crookshanks, the sweetest senior gentleman looking for a cozy new home to call his own. With his gentle demeanor and loving nature, Crookshanks is the perfect companion for someone who appreciates the quieter moments in life. Although he may be a bit shy and timid when first introduced to new environments, once he's had some time to settle in, he will serenely make your home his own haven of warmth and affection.
Crookshanks thrives in a quiet and calm setting, as that's what he's accustomed to. As an indoor-only gentleman, he's perfectly happy enjoying the comforts and safety of your home, along with plenty of cozy spots to rest and soak up the gentle rays of sunlight streaming through a window. His favorite pastime is spending time with his person, getting to know their routines, and curling up with them for a snug catnap.
While Crookshanks may take a little time to warm up, his affectionate nature truly shines through when he's comfortable, offering gentle nudges and soft purrs to show his love. His ideal family would be understanding of his need for patience and would provide him with the peaceful, loving environment he craves.
Medical notes
Chronic Renal Disease
At the time of coming into the care of CPS, we were aware that Crookshanks had been diagnosed with kidney disease. This is generally due to gradual deterioration of kidney function over time. At present his condition appears stable, however this may change at any stage in the future.
We recommend an ongoing diet of Royal Canin Renal food (wet and dry) along with regular check ins with your veterinarian (3-6 monthly depending on how he is going).
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
