About Opie
Meet Winchester!
A refined older gentleman with a heart as warm as his favorite sunny spot on the porch. He's mellow, gentle, and has officially retired from all the wild puppy nonsense. At the final chapter of his life, Winchester is looking for his final home to treat him like the king he is.
You may be asking why Winchester is a special needs case. He lives with significant orthopaedic conditions, including hip dysplasia and ruptured cruciate ligaments in both knees. As a result, he also suffers from painful osteoarthritis in his joints. His forever family has a few potential options that they can take regarding his medical conditions, currently Winchester is not a candidate for surgery but his current quality of life is still good. Our vet team here are more than happy to have a chat with you for his ongoing needs. He'll need ongoing vet care for the rest of his life, but what Winchester needs most isn't medical - it's emotional. He needs peace. He needs dignity. He needs to feel, deep in his bones, that he finally belongs.
Winchester is a homebody and loves nothing more than lying in a comfy spot, and no matter where he is he will turn anything into a bed. He's so obsessed we're sure you'll find him snoozing on the couch, your bed... even a pile of laundry! But as much as Winchester loves his bed, he loooves human company even more. He'd be just as happy finding his forever family full of little kids running around, or a quiet older couple who are as retired as he is.
Winchester would even be happy going home with another canine friend, as long as they're on the same wavelength as him and not trying to force him to play all day, more of a nap buddy companion. A successful meet and greet is necessary to ensure they get along, please bring along all resident dogs to the meet and greet.
Winchester deserves to know what it means to be cherished. To feel grass under his paws and sun on his face. To fall asleep each night knowing he's loved beyond measure. You can give him that. You can be the miracle he's waited his whole life for.
Winchester doesn't run anymore. His legs don't let him. He doesn't chase toys or leap through fields. What he does is so much quieter and so much more profound. He leans into your touch with a tenderness that will bring tears to your eyes. Let's not let him leave this world without knowing just how deeply he was loved.
Come down and adopt Winchester today.
