About Obsidian
Meet Obsidian - a handsome, independent boy with a gentle nature and a curious spark. While he may come across as reserved at first, Obsidian enjoys affection on his terms and will nudge his head under your arm when he's ready for some attention. He's happy to settle beside you and soak in your company, making him a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a quieter dog.
Obsidian is food motivated and takes treats gently. He's still learning how to play and can get a little over-aroused or unsure during games, especially tug, often grabbing a toy and taking it outside. In a home environment with consistency and patience, he's likely to relax and enjoy playtime more fully.
He already knows basic cues like sit, shake, and drop, and is keen to learn more. He walks with a strong pull on lead and enjoys sniffing his surroundings, so he'll benefit from ongoing training to help improve his loose lead skills. He's responsive to positive reinforcement and can be lured into his harness calmly with treats.
When it comes to other dogs, Obsidian shows signs of under-confidence and can become frustrated, but softens and is able to engage with calm, appropriate interactions. He may benefit from being the only dog or with a calm, well-matched, steady canine companion. He would match a quiet home with no young children, with people who understands dog body language and can help build his confidence.
Obsidian can be a little startle-prone at times but recovers quickly and takes things in stride. With a steady routine, understanding handler, and a low-pressure environment, he's sure to blossom into a loving and loyal best friend.
