About Barry
Barry boy is a big, gentle, goof ball! He loves his daily runs/ walks, belly scratches and running around after his giant tennis ball 🎾 he enjoys being with you 24/7 and loves to be cosy right up next to you on the lounge. Barry barks when he is feeling left out and wants to be included in whats going on.
Barry prefers to have someone home most of the day, he will be a great companion for the right person / family. If you work long hours away from home then Barry will get stressed so this wouldn't suit.
Barry is good with kids, absolutely loves them. Currently living with kids 2 and 5 and will easily knock them over accidentally, Barry would better suit a family with kids aged 8+ years due to his size.
Barry is unsure about dogs he doesn't know, and needs to be the only dog at his new home. It's a yes to a cat - Barry is currently living with 2 cats he is great with them and keeps his distance.
Barry is happy to sleep on his bed inside but will try and sneak up onto the lounge or your bedroom floor to be closer to you. He is used to having access to a yard 24/7 via dog door so he can go to the toilet when he needs.
Barry has ruptured both his cruciates and needs bilateral TPLO surgery to repair these. The rescue will be covering the cost of this at our trusted vet. We need a foster-to-adopt home who can care for Barry during the recovery.
Barry is currently fostered in near Newcastle NSW. Ideally he goes to a foster-to-adopt home in Newcastle / Sydney area, Canberra could be considered too.

Medical notes
Barry had untreated eye issues when coming to the rescue. One eye couldn't be saved and was removed, there are no more issues now. The other eye was saved and is doing well, it needs wiping morning and night with a salt water wipe to keep it in the best health.

Applicants will be assessed in terms of best suitability for the dog. A meet & greet and yard inspection are essential parts of the screening process.
The first 2 weeks for every adoption is a trial period to ensure that both the dog and family are a good match. And once everyone is happy the dog's microchip will be changed across to the new family.
