About Gary
Introducing Gary!
Gary is a Kelpie x Mastiff born 20th September 2024.
Gary & his sisters were surrendered to the facility by their owner, as they unfortunately have become homeless & no longer have the funds to continue their care. His surrender profile states he travels well in the car, has no separation anxiety or food aggression, is friendly with children & adult strangers, he is friendly with other dogs, he isn't house trained and he hasn't escaped their property.
Since being at the facility Gary has been a little shy with new people, but he warms up to you very quickly (especially if you have treats or give him a bum scratch). He's an incredibly sweet boy who loves human attention & affection. Gary is slowly coming around to playing with toys, but he seems to enjoy them more when he's alone. We don't believe he's had much lead training, so he will need an owner who is willing to continue working on his confidence while on lead.
Gary tested well with other dogs, including a large male dog & he was very excited and playful with him. We believe Gary would be suitable to live with other dogs, or be the spoilt only "child" at home. If you have another dog at home we will need to do a meet & greet with them to ensure they get along before going home.
Gary tested well with cats & pocket pets. We believe Gary would be suitable to live in a home with smaller animals if given a slow & controlled introduction to them.
He still has so much to learn about the world and would love to be in a home where he is included as a member of the family. Gary will thrive in an environment that guides him with positive direction and lots of love and attention.
Gary has shown no signs of food aggression or separation anxiety since being at the facility.
Gary's adoption fee is $500 and includes his desexing & lifetime registration.
Gary is also regularly treated for flea and worms and is up to date with his vaccinations.

Adoption details
If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please contact us on 0499 900 272.
Staff will ask more about your lifestyle and the information you provide will helps us to achieve the best match between the dog or cat and their new home. We will also have certain adoption requirements that have to be approved prior to meeting the animal (eg fencing requirements, no young kids, etc)
Once all of your questions have been answered and adoption requirements met and approved, its time to meet your potential new furbaby. This meet will be conducted at the shelter in the Hunter Valley.
Should you have an existing dog in your life, we will require a meet and greet to ensure that they get along.
The final step (pending agreement by both parties) is the payment of the adoption fee and filling in of associated paperwork for your new furbaby.
Congratulations, you have now saved a life!
