Duncan is a 4.5 year old German Shepherd that is equally as beautiful on the inside as he is the outside. Duncan was rescued from the pound a few weeks ago, he was incredibly stressed and had lost a lot of weight whilst waiting for someone to come for him. Duncan has been living the life of luxury for the past few weeks in foster care and is now ready to find his forever home.
Duncan is the sweetest boy who just loves pats from anyone and everyone, he will meet a stranger and soon be leaning into their legs demanding a good back scratch. At home, Duncan loves to cuddle on the couch, and of course belly rubs are now a part of his everyday routine. Duncan enjoys being around his people and will follow you around, however, isn’t too needy and is able to spend time on his own without a fuss. Duncan has taken well to life indoors in his foster home, he has not been destructive, is toilet trained and settles well at night.
Duncan is an active boy, he gets super excited for walk time and will bounce around telling you to hurry up, once out walking he generally doesn’t pull too much and is easy to handle when there are no distractions around, he does get very excited when he sees other dogs and will pull towards them. Duncan would love to be taken on adventures and hikes; he will need plenty of exercise.
Duncan loves to play with all toys and will become a little obsessive wanting to play fetch constantly, he has been learning that toys and playtime are on the human’s terms and has been practicing having time without them to be calm which he is responding well to.
Duncan is a clever boy and has been picking up new commands and boundaries very quickly in his foster home, he enjoys training for both treats and toys as a reward and knows basic commands. Duncan’s new family must be committed to his ongoing training, setting clear rules and expectations, improving his focus under distraction and reminding him of his manners when excited.
Duncan has tunnel vision when around his toys and would likely knock small children over when playing, he does also tend to jump up when he is excited however is learning to keep all 4 paws on the ground. Duncan may be able to live with children who are dog savvy, provided he is supervised and play time is kept well away from kids.
Duncan gets very excited when he meets other dogs, he has little social skills and doesn’t really know how to interact. When Duncan sees another dog, he will pull towards them and becomes over-aroused, giving high pitched barks and jumping up and down. Up close, Duncan jumps on other dogs and tries to play very rough, he is boisterous and has no manners whatsoever. Whilst Duncan hasn’t shown any aggression, he will find himself in trouble with other dogs because of his lack of social skills and rude approach. For now, it’s best that Duncan is the only dog in his new home, he could possibly live with another dog, however slow integration and separation would be necessary.
Duncan has shown he wants to chase cats; he is not suited to a home with cats or other small pets; he has not been tested with livestock.
Duncan has so much potential, he is everything you want out of a German Shepherd, active and adventurous, motivated to learn new things, but also happy enough to snooze on the couch and hang out too. Duncan will thrive in the right hands, he is looking for someone that wants a best friend, an adventure buddy, a playmate, but also a snuggly companion who is always up for a cuddle.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
