About Dobbie
Hello, my name is Dobbie and I'm looking for my forever humans.
I am a gorgeous 3 year and 1 month old Shih Tzu
I came into care as a retired breeding boy and the rescue has also ensure that I have had all my vet work completed and they are on a mission to find me my furever home.
My weight is 9.5kgs
I came into care with some others who will go up for adoption very soon, but in the meantime, I wanted to tell you about me.
I came into care a little nervous and unsure of people, but my foster mum has been working with me, and she says while I can be shy around new people, I do warm up quickly but have been known to bark at a new person for a minute or two.
As I have hung out with my foster family I have been very happy following them around when they are at home - I am still learning all this home life stuff and can get nervous when I don't see my humans.
My foster mum believes with some time to settle and some confidence that my nervousness will decrease.
My foster mum says I would do better with a family / person who is home more often than not, shift worker, casual worker, home school, Stay home parent etc... a homebody!
I have always lived with other dogs and am dog friendly, but whilst I'm a small breed dog, I do weigh 9.4kgs so I'm better with small breed dogs or similar in size to me.
I haven't really played a lot since coming into care with new dogs, but I did play with the dogs that came into care with me, i think as i settle I would like to play again.
I like to be with my humans when they are watching tv or even outside doing things. I very much loved to sleep with my humans, i currently sleep on a dog bed in my mum's room but I think if you wanted to show me how to sleep on the bed I would definitely give that a try.
I like to be close as possible and personal space is a myth. I do like a good tummy tickle, and I will happily follow the other dogs around and just interact.
I am child friendly and currently live with grandkids aged 18months and 10 years old.
I am cat friendly, well okay I am friendly but that cat hisses at me and so I just give her a really wide berth because she can be a bit mean.
I currently live with birds and I ignore them but the cows my foster mum has I like to bark at.
My foster mum says that if she puts a lead on me, I simply sit down and don't move - so I won't be a hiking, beach walking type of guy. But I will happily simply follow you around at home in the yard.
My foster mum says that food is not a huge motivator for me and at the moment she has to break treats into small pieces for me.
I am toilet trained but my foster mum says the door is opened for us to come and go but no doggy door so that might be something i need help with or I could be a natural she's not sure......... but she did say I don't toilet in the house.
My ideal home would be where I can be inside as much as I want and have access outside for some play and a run around. I would not enjoy being a dog that would be expected to spend hours outside by myself.
I am looking for that forever home that will love me and I can love you – are you that home?

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $250) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption - each bio will state if available for adoption - please check before applying.
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
