NOTE: You are unable to meet Tavia until/unless you have been notified that you are a successful applicant. An adoption cannot be approved unless you are able to come to the shelter to meet Tavia in person and bring any dogs you currently have with you.

What I need in my new home:
• Daily walks, trips to the park or beach, playtime in the backyard
• Further training with basic doggie manners
• To be allowed inside with my family, I am used to being allowed inside
• A patient family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time.
• I like both friendly male and female dogs. A submissive doggie playmate would be great, if not then lots of socialising with other dogs
• A cat may be ok with a slow introduction, I have previously lived with a Cat
• Secure Fencing (6ft Colorbond or equivalent)
• Lots of toys and mental stimulation
• Lots of love and attention
• I can be shy at first, so I need a family who’ll allow me to grow in confidence in my own time. I can especially be shy around new men.

Things that I don’t want in my new home:
• To be left alone in the backyard without any interaction
• Not to be allowed inside with my family
• Never to go on a walk or rides in the car
• No young children as I can be a bit shy in new situations and with new people and little ones may accidently scare me. Older children who will be involved with my training should be ok
• No Pocket Pets (Rabbits, Guinea Pigs etc) as I may find them fun to chase

My best features:
• Gentle & placid
• I love attention and having snuggles with my humans
• I know how to sit, shake hands, lay down & roll over
• I walk well on lead
• Happy to hang out with other friendly dogs
• I am clever and eager to learn so would love a family who will teach me some cool tricks.
• I am housetrained
• I am crate trained
• I am responsive to my name and used to being allowed off leash (once I know and am bonded to you of course)

Where I need to improve / Training required
• Unsure in new situations – more socialising is needed
• I love my food so using them as a positive reward should make my training easier.
• I appear to show anxiety at times when left alone - a family who has a lot of time for me, allow me indoors and leave me with lots of mental enrichment when home alone is recommended
• I may be scared of thunder and fireworks. I will require a safe space to retreat to during these events as well as comfort and reassurance from my family.
