About Tess
Meet Tess – A Loyal, Loving Companion Ready for Her Forever Home
Tess is a striking sable German Shepherd who spent her early life on a rural property, growing up with young children and her best friend - a spirited Jack Russell. Now in foster care, she’s thriving in the company of other German Shepherds, Kelpies, 2 Yorkshire terriers and is really showing her social, well-mannered side.
Tess is at her happiest when she’s with her people. She forms deep bonds and wants to be involved in everything you do - whether that’s spending time inside as part of the family, relaxing in the yard, or joining you on your next adventure.
Affectionate, intelligent, and full of personality, Tess is the complete package. She would do best with experienced owners who understand the breed and can provide the mental stimulation and structure she thrives on.
Tess loves the water, enjoys having space to run, and absolutely adores adventure. Most of all, she needs to be an integral part of the family - with plenty of time indoors and close companionship.
Other Pets:
Tess could be suited to a home with a calm, male dog of similar age or as the only dog. She previously lived with a male companion and is polite and social on-lead when meeting other dogs.
Training and Engagement:
Training Tess isn’t a chore, it’s a fun opportunity to bond and bring out the best in her. She knows her name and responds to basic commands like sit, down, and stay. She’s food-motivated, so having a few treats on hand during training is a great way to reinforce her good behaviour.
Post-Adoption Transition:
Like all rehomed animals, Tess may need time to adjust. Moving into a new environment with unfamiliar people can take time, sometimes up to three months, for a dog to truly settle and show their full personality. During this transition, patience, understanding, and consistency are key.
Tess is a devoted, intelligent girl ready to bring joy, loyalty, and adventure into your life. If you’re looking for a companion who will be by your side through thick and thin, Tess may be the perfect fit.
If you have recently owned a German Shepherd or large breed dog, and understand German Shepherd and think you have the commitment to give Tess a new home, then please click on the link "Enquire about Tess” and we will send you information about adopting a German Shepherd or go to our website and complete the application form.

If you live in Queensland or Victoria, you can be considered, however you will need to be able to drive with your family to meet her. If for any reason she doesn't fit your family you will be responsible for bringing her back to her carer.
Medical notes
No known pre-existing conditions. Tess is in excellent health.

Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
