 About Zeppy
Zeppy is an intelligent and playful dachshund who often forgets he is on the slightly larger side.   His loving nature makes him a delightful companion, and he already gets on fantastically at his foster home alongside two dachshunds.  He enjoys zoomies with his 7-year-old foster brother.
Personality Highlights
Zeppy is a quick learner who responds instantly to his name, especially when treats are involved!  While he can be independent and enjoys exploring the yard on his own, he also likes to be with you all the time.  He's not particularly interested in tennis balls but with some encouragement he will look at the ball.  Typical dachshund.
Current Training Progress
House Training: Well on his way to being fully house trained, we are experiencing a few accidents in the house and using the yard during the day. Nighttime routines are all dogs go outside for a “wee” and then he goes into his crate where he will spend the night.  Often, he gives a bark if he hears something but generally, he sleeps all night.  His crate is outside the foster carer’s bedroom, and he likes to be able to see us.
Lead Skills: Enjoys walks but does pull on his lead.  We are working on this every day.  He travels well in the car.
Social Skills: Making progress in meeting new people. Initially he will bark at new people but within a short period of time he will be snuggling on the couch wanting some loving.
Daily Care
Diet: Enjoying home cooked meals with some kibble with his foster siblings   
Exercise: Enjoys zoomies and regular walks
Sleep: Settles well in his crate for sleep.
Behaviour: No food aggression, but we do feed him separately.
Zeppy would flourish in a home that offers:
Patient owners committed to continuing his socialization journey.  He enjoyed a visit with our grandson the other day.
A calm, structured environment.   He would enjoy the company of another dog, but I think he could be a single dog also
A secure yard for exercise and bathroom breaks (he is using the doggy door confidently)
Understanding that he needs time to warm up to new people
