About Bobby - 12 Year Old Labrador
“Oi! You over there! Yeah you — come give me a pat!” – Bobby, probably.
Meet Bobby, a 12-year-old Labrador with the heart of a puppy and the voice of a bloke yelling across the pub to his mates. This big yellow marshmallow is an absolute sweetheart who lives for human affection, gets along famously with other dogs and even cats, and brings a big goofy smile to every room he enters.
Despite his age, Bobby’s still got plenty of beans — though they come with a dash of arthritis (managed with medication) and a bit of extra padding he’s working on shedding. A healthy diet and gentle daily walks are just what the dogtor ordered, and he’s more than happy to oblige.
Out on walks, Bobby can be a bit of a character. He’s not aggressive, just… enthusiastic. If he sees a dog in the neighbourhood, he’ll make sure they know he’s passing by with a cheerful “HEY! LOOK AT ME!” So yes, he could use some polite walking manners, but it’s all part of his charm.
At home, Bobby is a dream. He’s housetrained, non-destructive, doesn’t bark unnecessarily, and sleeps soundly through the night (inside, please — he’s earned his creature comforts). No couch-surfing here — Bobby’s hips don’t do heights, so a soft, supportive dog bed will do nicely.
While Bobby is happy to cruise around on flat ground, he’s not currently confident with stairs. A single-level home would suit him best, or a home with someone happy to provide a ramp or spend some time supporting him in learning the ropes (or risers, in this case).
He travels well in the car, tolerates baths like a gentleman, and is comfortable being handled all over. Not formally kid-tested, but with his affectionate nature, he’d likely be fine with young ones — just watch out for accidental bowling due to his solid build and tail of mass destruction.
Bobby would suit a home with or without other pets, and is just as happy lounging solo during the day while you work as he is being part of your weekend adventures. He’s not planning any great escapes — he just wants to be where the love is. He could even go to work if you’re happy to have a lounge lizard near you all day!
If you’re after a loyal, hilarious, people-loving companion who still has plenty of tail wags and affection to give, Bobby might just be your guy.
Bobby is in foster care in Lake Macquarie, NSW. Adoption fee is $400 and he is desexed, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and microchipped.
