About Alvin
Alvin is a confident and playful Shar Pei puppy who's been thriving in his foster home. He settled in quickly-within a day-and now spends his time alternating between bursts of puppy energy and long, lazy naps in the sun. He especially loves a game where you tap your hand on the ground and he tries to "catch" it with his paw. Alvin is more energetic than his brother, often initiating play wrestling, but he's just as happy to lounge around or relax in his crate.
Alvin has been social with both people and animals. He has shown playful, friendly behaviour when interacting with other dogs. He's very affectionate with people of all ages, enjoys pats (especially behind the ears and under the chin), and greets strangers with curiosity and excitement. He's also quite attached to his toys-slippers, socks for tug-of-war, and tennis balls are among his favourites.
He's toilet trained, crate trained, and follows a steady routine: breakfast around 7am, outside during the day, and dinner around 6pm before settling into bed by 9pm. He's good on the lead, though he can get excited and pull slightly, but responds well to redirection. Alvin is currently learning basic commands like "sit" and is working on waiting patiently for his food. He's eager to please and food-motivated-chicken treats are a hit, and for medications, cheese slices do the trick.
As a Shar Pei, Alvin will do best in a home with an experienced dog owner who understands the unique needs of the breed. Shar Peis can be independent and strong-willed, so consistency, structure, and ongoing training will help Alvin grow into a well-mannered adult dog. With the right guidance, he'll be a loving, fun, and loyal companion.
